Two years ago I found my house extremely cheap because it was ugly but it was all cosmetic. I bought it for 71,500. My house payments are $505 a month. I bought a used car 2015 which is almost paid for.

I had a "get it together, people!" moment yesterday. A local church works with the regional food bank and had a big giveaway yesterday morning. A friend asked me if I would come help with distribution. People were lined up an hour and a half before it started. (Yes, they kept their cars running, wasting gas. It's Florida. Nobody was going to freeze.) I had people turning down steaks and center cut pork chops because that wouldn't work with their menu plan for the week. 🤦 MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

I am working really hard at paying off debt. I had a big problem with the little things as far as $3, $5, $10 holiday or seasonal cute decor and couch pillows you aren't even suppose to use. I thought it made me happier and I 'needed' my home to be cute and cozy to relieve stress. I've realized I like it even better and have less stress with the money still in my bank account!

Currently going through my kitchen pantry and extended pantry. I am finding food past the best by date and pulling it off the shelves, putting it in the box for meals next week. Sometimes life happens and you get behind. I have been stocking up for a while. It has become a way of life for us. The only things we have bought in the last 2 weeks was fresh produce and milk. I appreciate you both, I love your homemade spice mixes from dining on a dime volume 1.

I bought a 4 yr old car in 2021 for under 13k with a 4% interest. So my payments were 205 a month BUT then I started watching your videos last year and by November 22 I paid off my little SUV. Thank you thank you because I’m not paying for all the interest and now have the extra money a month to save up to pay off my house.

Before we moved to a new state, while we were paying off debt, I traded work at a consignment shop for store credit and it was low enough cost, I clothed my four kids without using my husband’s income for several years. Not paying a lot really freed me to not be upset if the kids messed it up. I did buy shout and took care of stains that way. I also bought a lot of the kid’s toys there with my store credit. I also sold through the shop and got checks a few times a year for things I picked up cheap that we wouldn’t use and I made money off that and if kid’s stuff lasted, I resold those too.

I bought all my children's clothes second hand. Like you said, all name brand stuff I would have never paid full retail price for. All three of my girls wore the clothes, then I would sell them at a big consignment event we have here and make more than I spent buying them! The clothes held up great and had so much more life left in them.

I once found a frozen Butterball turkey in the trash in a park. It must have come from a foodbank across the street. I made a turkey and 3 people had turkey a la king 2 days in a row from it. I’d rather salvage good food than throw it away. There was lots of food from the food banks in these trash cans that were still good and I save money by using these foods. I have a 1995 Toyota Tercel with 442,000 miles on it and it gets me from point A to point B on the freeways and side streets. This car is more comfortable than any newer car. I drove it back and forth from CA to CO twice in one month and had no problems with it. It’s the best car I ever owned and people want me to get a newer car. I only give away junk. I never paid for cable in the 34 years that I have lived in my condominium.

I don’t pay for cable either. Never have in my life. Once the tv made everyone switch to digital and to buy a digital box I refused to get that so I didn’t have tv after that. Now I can’t get brainwashed like the others. They were passing out rebate coupons to buy it but I didn’t grab it in time, so I said forget it. I wasn’t gonna pay like $70 for a converter to get “free” tv.

I mostly agree with you that you don't need to pay full price for 99.999% of things. Here in PA there is no cheap milk, and it does not go on sale. It's regulated by the PA Milk Marketing Board... former name Milk Control Board. I can travel outside my Region for a bit less, but it's only worth it if I'm in that area... same for going out of State.

You could totally do an organizational video. Just show us how you organize the things you use for your everyday cooking 🥘 what does your upstairs everyday pantry look like? Show everyone the spices you use and your baking cabinet. How are you going to set up your new fridge? We aren’t necessarily looking for Pinterest “perfect”. We are looking for practical useable kitchens. 😊

You can find usually a small piece of remnant granite for cheap from stone fabricators or stone suppliers (such as a sink hole sized cutout), then just drill a couple holes to add some leather or metal handles and some chair foot protectors or rubber tabs underneath, and place that next to your stove to put hot pans and such on to protect your counters. It's heavy but you can use it as a charcuterie board as well. Some will even sell these pre-made to you for around $100 or so

Just popping in to say that "I'll Fly Away" is my favorite song, along with one that just finally got onto the airways, but has been around for a long time, "Only Jesus". I sing those in the car until the radio is warmed up enough to come on. (I love in Florida, but the radio has a mind of it's own, sometime I think Satan doesn't want me to hear praise and worship music, so I make my own!).

I don't know if every area has these places but I go to a local butcher. It's were the hunters go to get meat processed well if you go there it can actually be cheaper on your meats because the do in house butchering. You don't have to get venison but you can get hams bacon pork ours even has seafood. I know certain areas like in Louisiana at places like that they have gaiter and stuff to make there special dishes. So chuck them out most have online websites that will tell you what they have as specials.

On the video playing too fast, when you are watching them you can speed them up as well as slow them down, so don't stress over this. Also with the organizing video, I think people want to know how you personally organize your house because the way you do things work. Just like all of Jill's older videos are still relevant because what people are doing today is not working.

Any suggestions on affordable, quality hair care products for thinning senior hair? There really is a different feel in the film the cheap shampoos/conditioners leave and the fullness the salon shampoos in my hair are really visible. Hoping you have a professional hair expert follower who can offer ideas! Already taking biotin. It's not a thyroid or other medical issue, just age related. It's not awful, but any affordable suggestions are welcome! (It's a luxury item for me so I use the costly stuff sparingly)

I was at Costco. Just parked my paid off 2004 Toyota next to a new Tesla. The owner of the Tesla was in the parking lot screaming at top of her lungs. Someone had dinged her new car. Small little ding. I thought….I don’t ever want to be an emotional slave to a car. I’ll keep my old car so I don’t have to have a meltdown in the parking lot over a ding. If I my car got dinged I wouldn’t even notice, it has a hundred dings.

Found insurance for $40 a month for two cars , put 4 good used tires on and a new battery. I love not having a car payment or worrying about dings like in the past.

Fantastic scores! Ya'll are just amazing! Last week, grocery sales were slim; I decided to wait to see what this week was gonna bring...well, the sales this week were much better. It pays to listen to your lessons!!

I get so mad at the thrift stores here in Canada we used to pay less in those stores and now a cashmere shirt like yours they would charge at least 8 or more for that😔

A deer broke through a picture window in our town. It's awful. They panic, and end up trashing the house and hurting themselves. I would get out of the house and open all doors hoping they get out. It is unlikely that they will. Honestly, it would be better to shoot it if possible but that could be dangerous too.

How about your glass🎉on your face? I wear glasses and I've never been able to find glasses that are quality of any type on sale! Even using my insurance coverage they cost $300 plus dollars.

I think with clothing prices it really depends, I spent £45 on a coat about 8 years ago and still wear now, I only own one coat, that's all I need, and it's still going strong, I'm not interested in fashion I always go for what I like and don't change just because fashions change, I buy my boots at £60 so far this pair has lasted me 3 years, they look tatty but they are the only shoes I own, I will get a new pair and then these are going be for gardening jobs and really mucky walking and then my new ones will be for school runs and anywhere where they won't have as hard wear so will probably last longer. I have to wear boots for the ankle support as I have a weakness in my ankles which means a lot of falls. If I could find them in a charity shop in good condition I would jump at the chance but normally they don't have strong sturdy boots, but I think in my case paying a bit more has saved me in the long run So far my coat has cost about £5.65 a year and boots £20 a year so far so not bad. My kids, I do get the majority from charity shops as well as my other clothes apart from maybe their school shoes as often can't find them but again I do spend a bit more on their school shoes so last a year and supermarket ones tend to wear out quicker as works out cheaper to buy them twice the price of supermarket ones that would need replacing 4 times in the year.
