I have 11 children and have been cloth diapering for 17 years and counting… I use the cloth- like Viva paper towels to line our diapers as a cheaper alternative to buying disposable diaper liners. For soiled diapers we just throw it in a plastic pet bag from the dollar store and we don’t have to rinse diapers.

Beans and rice options: try lentils and rice, for beans try kidney beans or chickpeas and rice, etc. Add chopped onion - favorite seasonings or even diced tomatoes w/green chilies.

My husband bought the little packets of instant flavored oatmeal. It took this crazy inflation for him to even to try the oats in the canister. It takes two minutes in the microwave and he can control the sugar. He wrote down the amounts of water, oats and sugar and the time in the microwave. He now won’t even think of buying the packets.

It really lifts my spirits to watch you two. I've lived in Illinois and Wisconsin my whole life (a born "Yankee" lol), but my mom grew up in Appalachia. She never lost her accent or her southern sensibilities. She was a hoot! She's been gone for nearly 30 years, but listening to Brooke talk brings back so many memories. Thanks for the great videos and great ideas!

I do this for breakfast i use smaller dishes and i pour the milk. I was always left with leftover milk in the dishes and a waste, if they finish i will give a little more if they want more. The fridge that we loved was from White-Westinghouse. Fridge only with a very small freezer... So you need a separate freezer. When I bought my current fridge, I couldn't find a similar fridge, so I now have an Amana fridge, but no ice maker in it.... No water hook-up in my kitchen. Our local Kaiser health care system now has the bathrooms as unisex instead of women or men with multiple stalls. Very disappointing & discouraging. They need to just make them singular locking rooms. I stopped going to Target for the same reason.

I found ground beef for $3 per lb in California! If I buy in bulk, this week's sales at Raley's are this cheap! I tend to shop at Winco for basics, but for meat at Raley's as they tend to have much better quality meat. Both Winco and Raley's are within a couple minutes of each other and it won't cost me much to drive to Raley's .

If you are censored and removed that will be the final nail in the coffin for me. The world has gone mad but when people are silenced for speaking their feelings then civilization is done for. Keep up your good work and know that you speak for the majority. That you are still laughing when faced with the kitchen remodel and a corporate world in free fall shows what marvelous stuff you are made of. The Living on a Dime team are the best.

You guys always have great advice, and I want encourage new viewers, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks😂. Jill, when you were talking about organic advertisers, it really struck a chord with me. I am 52. We have been on a very tight budget our whole married life since we were young adults. It disgusted me when I realized how much advertising I’d actually fallen for. And how many times my husband had told me I was falling for it, but I was sure I was right because the expert said so. The thing about it is, in my case, and surely many others.… Advertisers prey not only upon the fears of a consumer, but also their genuine, heartfelt desire to do right by their family. I’m actually learning about things to let go of. I have a lot of health issues, I have bigger fish to fry than worrying about the tadpoles! And Tawra, I had to chuckle because I know how you get riled up about Starbucks lines. I finally broke that habit, only 4800 to go or so.😂 I remembered you guys talking about freezing things in ice cube trays. Today I finally broke and bought myself a box of the Tazo chai concentrate. I was apalled to see price up almost 2 bucks a box in the last two years. and is the only one drinking it it gets wasted because you can’t drink it before it goes bad. So I just poured it into ice cube trays. When I want to treat, and an actual, keeping it as a real treat, I will pull out a few of the cubes. Jill, I’m gonna take a lot of what you said to Hart about weaning off of other addictive behaviors. It’s just not worth it, I have the same complications with health that you guys do for 30 years. Chai does me no favor. Thanks for doing what you’re doing. God bless you and your family for your ministry to other homes, and your real passion for getting peoples heads out of financial rumps .

I remember my mom's having to use cloth diapers on 8 of us 9 children...but she delegated me and one of my older sisters as helpers..because she had to work.we had to learn to wash diapers in pail of bleach..rinse it out..flush out the messes in the diaper in the toilet..rinse out the diapers again in hot water..but if we had a box of snowy bleach or dreft...that was a big help..in washing the diapers by hand..or if our wringer washing machine worked at the time. When the diapers were properly bleached and rinsed..we would hang the diapers outside on a clothes line with clothespins. To dry.. The cloth diapers always had a fresh clean smell that i remember...

Oh my, I learned to cook rice at about 10 years old. My aunt used to make rice several times a week. It was the base of most of our meals. (She was down here in FL where rice was king in the 60's). She made potatoes second, behind rice. I was forced into service to peel the potatoes at about the same age. These things made me a decent cook. Pasta was a real treat, spaghetti with meat sauce and a little stinky cheese from the green container before mac 'n cheese even. You mentioned cooking the same thing over and over (you mentioned tacos 4 times a month). My nephew and his father would have me make spaghetti with dinner sausages at least two times a week. Used to drive me crazy, but they would say, "Make something easy - make spaghetti". And I am a good cook! Please, please, use some of your "business budget" to come to my home in Florida, look at my budget, my pantry, how I cook, and use it on your show. You would be so proud of me! That includes food pantries and food stamps. If pork is on sale, I will buy a roast or two, and grind them like hamburger. What's the big deal. You can do whatever you do with hamburger, even the same seasonings. I recognized the fact that I can't afford asparagus most of the year - it doesn't fit into my price points. I won't spend more than $1.99 lb for it. I can't afford lobster, or scallops like I used to. They are not in my grocery cart - period. Margarine vs. Butter. Butter wins, but only if it is within my price point. Right now (4/30/23) butter at Sam's Club is $11.94 for a 4 pack. That is less expensive than Walmart by like 1/2 which is about $10 for a 2 pack. But I do buy and keep a big thing of Blue Bonnet in the fridge for things like cooking eggs in the morning. Your books also make great graduation gifts for both high schoolers going off to college, or those graduating from college who are going to be setting up their own households. I bought a couple of packages with 2 hamburgers on it - with some bleu cheese in the mix. They are heavy, tough if you cook them as 2 patties. So...I defrosted a package, added chopped onion, an egg and some bread crumbs and made 4 patties from the mix. Delicious. Since I live in Florida these days, I keep cans/jars ofpickled beets, marinated artichokes (most expensive thing I buy regularly and keep on hand), beet and leek salad. I also keep fresh tomatoes, and cucumbers. I can easily pull out one of these to have as a side at any time. I do keep some canned veggies, but I really prefer frozen. So I keep frozen bags of lima beans, sweet corn, mixed veggies, and broccoli all the time. 6 minutes in the microwave and I am good to go. 5 minutes in the microwave for a baked potato. I don't always have to have hot sides. I also mix my ground meats for various reasons. I was given ground taco seasoned chicken, and hot sausage. I don't care for either by themselves. When mixed, these make a unique meatloaf. I thought the ground chicken was actually beef and couldn't bear to throw it out, and could not figure out what to make with it - my tacos are not chicken. We have one of kinds of people in our family - totally demonic, still looks like a boy though. He needs every prayer we can say for him. He needs an exorcism, for real. You know the demons are there, you can feel them. I have told them to leave, asked God to bind them and send to the pit, now. So please stand in corporate prayer for my nephew.

Time is money also you do have to factor in the time it takes to make something like noodles. Whichc would take an hour and cleanup vs $.79-1.00 a pound I typically pay $.30-.50 for someone to make something it would take an hour or more to to do and cleanup time and electricity to make said item…. That alone is a ton of savings for me….. i can be gardening cleaning, cooking other things that i want to and enjoy or are more simple in nature, and practice occasionally for giggles on the other things but on the reg i pay someone $.30-.50 to make my bag of noodles especially until i master the art of noodle making🤣😂

I live in a small beautiful town along the shore of Lake Michigan and for years we had a cross on one of the tallest sand dunes and one person who didn't even live here sued the city and they took down the cross. Now a "minister" at one of the churches is pushing a festival for the queer people this Spring and one local resterants is going to have a drag queen show! I am just sick about it! People are protesting it. And the things are including children with games, etc. Yes, the world has gone crazy and it did seem to happen fast. I believe we are in the end times.😐

I make cheeseburger macaroni anc make a double batch because I put the other half in a container and refrigerate 2 days on the 3rd day I add a can of chili and a diced onion which turns it into cheesy chili mac. My husband was one abd still thinks he is one of those who refuse to eat leftovers. He thinks I eat all the leftovers for my lunch. Lol. He has had leftovers not knowing and I am nit telling him. Oh, he is also one that says he hates beans and veggies. Well he loves my meatloaf and I put a cup of cooked black beans in the blender and use it in place of 1egg in my double batch recipe add finely sheddred carrots abd zucchini and season it with Italian seasoning, garlic a d onion powder, I top it with my homemade ketchup. He has yet to say he tastes any beans or veggies. Lol Yes, I am a sneaky wife but the type of sneaking I do is to sneak healthy foids in his diet. By the way his doctor asked how I was able to get my husband's nutrition up to normal levels from being so low. I gave him a look and he said " Never mind do not tell me since he will know and most picky eaters it is 90% in their heads." Also, if a person tried a food they say they do not like 10 times a year they usually have a chznge in their taste. Sugar and empty carb foods are the main reason people gain weight. The chikd obesity issue if you look into the duet that chikd has 80% of their duet is sugars abd empty carbs. Thise make a chi,d hyper. Another friend of mine before the doctors in the USA put her son on medication for adhd/add/hyperactivity I went over what she gad in her house and threw out 3 trash bags of junk food!! IT WAS DIFFICUKT THE FIRST 3 MONTHS WHITH HIS TANTRUMS. But after that he was doing way better in school and able to concentrate without being so ADDICTED TO SUGAR AND EMPTY CARBS. He never had to be put on medications. He is now in his late 30s abd he never has had junk food in his home with his children who are very healthy teenagers. THE FIRST DRUG ADDICTION WE GIVE OUR CHILDREN IS SWEETS AND JUNKFOOD!!

I couldn’t agree more this young man pretending to dress up like a woman and all these companies catering to this is ridiculous.

Personally I buy butter when I can BUT is it just me or does butter not taste like it used to? Send to me it has no taste whereas margarine seems to taste more like butter to me.
