I really liked the cinematics in this one. Especially, how you used lighting to highlight the middle and background while the front was in the dark. It gave the video a voyeuristic feeling. Almost like a forbidden peek into your man cave.

Thanks so much for this vid. I just bought the Fireball for the hi-gain, but have since read some critiques of Engl amps for their inability to handle pedals. Your video gives me more confidence! Thanks.

My dual rectifier sounds awesome with my pedals. Clean channel (6L6s) is amazing and it has an immense headroom. Super powerful eq section makes it a super versatile channel.

Yeah one would believe that metal amps have a lot of headroom on the clean channel, making them perfect for effects

I have Engl Raider 100 and Engl Ironball, both have great clean channels and take pedals very well. In fact I know at least a couple jazz guys who gig (OK, pre Covid-19) with Engl: one uses the Thunder Reverb 50w combo and the other the Raider 100w combo.

Nice! I've tried the Tunder Reverb 50w ages ago. Great amp

This is a real sleeper amp! It sounds amazing. Especially liked U67 + Daily Driver tone. For the fuzzrocious, I think I'd prefer it with your hamstead. Really considering this now vs the dirty shirley.

Sure they can! Tons of metal amps have great clean channels; my Mark V takes pedals wonderfully

Problem of using a metal amp as a platform is most pedalheads would throw away all their drive pedals and run their fx through the loop.

Yes you can. The clean channel of a metal amp is usually great. They have more low end and sustain. However you are wasting the main purpose of the amp. Which is the high gain channel of course. Anything works for you. I talk much but never owned a metal amp. Played them but never owned one. I only have a cheap 20 watt 12” amp. I use it for pedal platform. I am happy hahaha

Great video. That Engl sounds great. Loved your video however i must disagree about metal amps not being necessarily good on clean channels, it's just that metalheads don't use it much and typically they just talk about distortion 🙂 i was expecting the engl to sound good on clean even though i have never tried one myself. One would expect a good amp like engl to sound good on cleans too. Recently i bought an orange amp just for it's awesome distortion however i've been using it much more a lot on clean with pedals, not just distortion it sounds awesome with bluesbreaker type overdrives too, so far it has worked great with anything that i've played with it

Triple Rect sounds great with pedals. Not even just on the clean channel.

have you thought about reviewing the bantamp series from joyo?

This is a great concept for a video. This is a question I ponder all the time. Can I have the best of both worlds in one amp. I think it’s a great idea especially for an amp’s that have multiple channels like the Mesa Mark V or the Diezel VH4 which has 4 channels, starting with a very nice clean channel and works it’s way up to a very saturated, metal channel.

This is much much better pedal platform than Marshall Silver Jubilee or Mesa Boogie Mark V.
