Luxury Cruise in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam (A HUGE Surprise!)

In this video, we explore the breathtaking beauty of Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, which is located a 2 hour and 30 min drive from the city of Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is renowned for its stunning limestone mountains and tranquil waters, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts. We went on a 2-day tour with Orchid Cruises. Our boat only had 14 rooms, making it a luxury boutique tour with great service, large rooms and fun activities, including a tour on a bamboo boat, squid fishing, and spring roll making. We also take you on a tour of our room and of the boat. We had a fantastic experience with Orchid Cruises and we can highly recommend a cruise in Ha Long Bay. Our only regret was that we did not have an extra day onboard the boat. We will be back.

We were blown away by the Ha Long Bay cruise as well. We went last summer 2022 and caught our 2 teenagers, who are technology obsessed and screen addicted, sat in the cabin's balcony stared out to the gorgeous bay in silence for a good 15 minute, not a word. They, and us, were mesmerized by the bay. The crew on our ship was so nice and friendly, even joked with us, and were clearly proud of their ship and service. We couldn't get over how fancy and delicious the food was. We did the kayak, the boat and the swimming and enjoyed the deck especially. The only regret we had was that we should have done the 3 day 2 night cruise, which we plan to do in upcoming year or two.

Very nice and funny video of your cruise. You seemed to have a really good time on your cruise. I have to say the landscape is just beautiful! Definitely worth a visit. We went on the premium cruise with orchid cruise, which only had 5 suites. with huge balconies Unfortunately it was raining 90 % of the time. and I mean heavy rain! That can happen when you go in August. But we could hardly use it as we were rushed for activities. Lunch, Cat Ba Island excursion, happy hour, summer rolls making, dinner, the next morning breakfast at 6:45, kayaking at 7:30, packing, light lunch and off we went back to shore. I definitely recommend the 2 nights/3 day tour and skipping half the activities. This way you really have time to relax and soak up the atmosphere.

We will be doing a luxury Cruise in Ha Long Bay next year. I was happy to find your video, the bay and its rock formations are gorgeous! You did a great job in capturing the beauty of it all. Question for you or anyone else who is knowledgable on the subject....What is the tipping expectation in Vietnam and Laos? We always tip operators of excursions, cabin stewards, spa workers, waiters, etc.

Okay, that secret passage way was too cool! And the rooms were so spacious and beautiful with the most spectacular views of the bay. Just curious, did you guys not get to do the kayaking or cave exploration? Every cruise I've seen, people did those activities (even on the day cruises).

Ha ha the secret passage was soooo cool! We were absolutely blown away by the boat and the room. The company offered kayaking but we chose to stay on the boat and enjoy it. The bamboo boat was really cool though. We really needed to stay an extra night so we had time for relaxation and activities. I guess we will have to go back 😉

Went on a different boat at the end of June this year (2023) and have to note that the activities are almost the same.. it only differs if going to the bike ride on the island or going for a hike through a cave, so if anybody are looking for booking it's mostly the food and rooms that are different (also that some boats don't have a pool -but trust me you wont miss it when you're there). We had 0wifi and no television and it was just so nice to just lay on the bed and look out at the window... it's such a beautiful place. I agree that the route we took were a couple of boats but it was such a nice view when all lighted up at night and the staff were amazing. Many complain about litter in the water and sure there were more than there should be.. but I didn't think it were more than at the harbor at the city I live in.. but sure -it IS sad to see plastics floating around in such a beautiful place. Glad you liked the cruise. We went on the 3day 2night and left wanting more time. Also not a fan of the speakers waking people up for breakfast.. but that's really searching for things to pick on.. Would absolutly say that though pricy compared to other things in Vietnam -It's worth it for the views alone.

Just subscribed! Loving this VN series. Question - I'll be traveling with my elderly parents and we are worried about things like steps/ramps climbing onto/from tender boat with their bad knees. I was replaying those scenes but hard to see your feet - how difficult it would be? Your thoughts? They would love to cruise but we had a bad experience on last vacation with a boat tour and their knees couldn't handle climbing down from steep step from dock to boat.

There are loads of boats though so I am sure there would be some companies that would be more suited. It would just take some research. You could also email the companies and ask if they can cater for people with bad knees.
