It's been raining so much that we are having a hard time getting our garden planted. It seems like it's never going to happen. So today we are doing something else around the homestead.

***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 2 new videos every week! Wednesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.
We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

Just an idea from another homesteader. Place a wading pool in your orchard next to a fruit tree. Let the ducks have at it for a few days doing their business in there. Dump the fertile water around the tree and move to the next one. Repeat.

You two are just the cutest couple & I love how you work together. The animals are happy & Sarah, you're always smiling & Kevin, you seem very even tempered. I admire the work ethic you both have. Doing things God's way. Keeping it simple. Inspiring to watch. You make it look so easy. But I bet you sleep real good! God bless your family homestead abundantly. Peace, joy & love!!! I look forward to every video.

Okay, here's my theory. Everything has shifted a month or so. When I was a kid (70 years ago), "April showers brought May flowers". Now it's May showers bring in June flowers. But it seems the cold weather in the Fall comes later too. Not sure, but it seems like it.

All weather patterns shifts, it just depends if you are thinking of your own lifetime, or 100, or 1,000 years, or maybe for really big thinkers, 1,000,000 years. Just stop & consider-- much of N.America used to be covered by **glaciers** yet at another time, it was home to **dinosaurs** HOW can that be? Because....weather patterns **change** and that is **normal** 💕

Late frosts, rain and high winds. We had a 2 week session of no rain but the wind was bitterly cold. Since then more rain, slugs are eating things that were planted. Comfrey has rust! Lots in the greenhouse desperate to be planted. Can't sow any more because no room! Poor orchard blown to smithereens and no pollination where the bees have gone into hiding - and I don't blame them. Yes, behind big time! On a brighter note, the tomatoes look great in the greenhouse! Lovely to see the ducklings (ours hatch next month - held back because of inclement weather!) and Rose is gorgeous and Babe is so sweet. Hope you get your garden sorted soon. At least you will get super hay for the winter with all the rain! Many thanks xx

My almost five year old son heard the ducks and was fascinated ❤️ Also, for your fly issue because we get eaten alive every year; my dad started buy “black flag” brand fly traps. They are bags that attract and trap them and you toss it once they are filled. It helped so much to protect us and our animals. We have a small farm so it’s helped greatly. Obviously there are still some but it’s a fraction of what it was. ❤️

That is what I used when growing veg in Singapore. We got lots of Malaysian fruit fly affecting our soft fruit, so putting these traps out attracted all the males, then the females didn't reproduce on such a big scale. In the long term, it really does make a difference in the pest population.

Gosh, I remember when Captain Kangaroo used to read that book to us! Then, we had that book at home when our kids were young. They're in their mid-40's now!

If it makes you feel any better, we just moved this spring, so we have to start everything over from scratch. It'll be worthwhile in the long run but this year is definitely not going to break any records for us.

Hey there kiddos---Your in ground and lots of folks gardens are not ready to plant. My stuff is all raised bed. It is doing good in garlic, onions, cabbage, potatoes and such. My eggplant, squash, tomato and peppers are just sitting still. I think with these 80"s will start to show some movement shortly. My Walla Walla onions are ringed and looks like they will be ready shortly. I am a little worried my potatoes are to wet. Time will tell. Yall take care. I love you. Dewayne Willis

My day is complete - spent some time with Kevin and Sarah :) You can tell how much you love your animals, it's fun to watch. And I so wish there were some good magic to send some of your rain up here to MI - we are as dry as a bone up here and the ground is like a rock already. I also don't trust the last frost dates. Ours is supposed to be the middle of May but I never plant tender annuals/perennials till after Memorial Day. We are still going to have temps overnight in the low 40's here! Crazy weather. Thank you for the great videos!
