@@Parisgirl548 as someone who deals with arthritis, I can understand some problems that can arise. The humidity is going to seize her joints up and cause pain, it's definitely not one sided, I'm sure they'll be missing her from so far away too, it's definitely multifaceted.

I completely agree! This is a *much* better situation for Grandma Gloria: single-level home, own room with close bathroom access, warm weather year-round, someone is always home, PLUS being around small children has been shown to improve the quality of life for older family members. Additionally, the kids get to develop a closer relationship with G. Gloria and learn from her. It's such an ideal situation for everyone.

BTW I was a conservator for a church member with no family for 17 years. I kept her safe and was able to be her advocate til she died at 93 (which extended into my retirement as Church Administrator [how I was first asked]). Bless you and Bobby for your grace and generosity. (People always asked how we were related… I’m a tall Swede and she was a tiny Japanese woman. 😂)

I live in a 3 bedroom apartment, but I'm expecting baby #4 and we're on the 2nd floor. 😔 Nobody else seems to want to keep her out of a nursing home. (which are horribly expensive it makes no sense). I hope everyone sees how admirable y'all are for doing this. I always tell my grandma 'if it wasn't for you I wouldn't exist, I owe you it all' ❤️

I will pray for you. Don’t be stressed because you and your family are doing what is best for Grandma. You’re keeping her mind active. You’re keeping her physically active because she can do water aerobics in your pool. You’re keeping her Spiritually active. Those haters think that you’re going to be unjustly financially enriched by caring for her. Know in your heart that you’re doing the RIGHT THING. Plus she’s going to have a new set of family members. I grew up with my mother, her mother (my Gram), and my Gram’s mother (my great grandmother). No one wanted my Great Grandmother (Nona) but my Gram’s three other siblings complained that we were going to get her Social Security. So, Gram would pack Nona up so that she could visit her other kids for 2 weeks. The complaining stopped.

I just want to say that when I watch the video of Bobby picking Grandma up from Wisconsin I cried because only someone with a great big heart would take on such a huge responsibility. You and Bobby have the sweetest disposition. You both are so much fun and authentic. When my dad was still alive I always wanted him to know we would never allow anyone to put him in a nursing home. Sadly I didn’t have the privilege of caring for him as you are doing for grandma, but I genuinely understand how you want to protect her from having strangers caring for her. Especially knowing that she didn’t want to be stuck in a nursing home as well. I look forward to all your videos. I find them very calming even though you’re always going a million miles a minute. Your sliding doors are so clean you may have to do what I had to when I had them. I had to put one of those plastic stick type things like a flamingo or something so Grandma wouldn’t run into it thinking it was open. Dog slobbers may end up being your friend, lol. I believe Bobby’s grandmother may end up blossoming and hopefully everyone will come to realize this decision is best all around.

Look, Grandma wanted to come down to Florida right? Well, did anybody else offer her a home? No? She was living alone not good for her! How often did they visit her? Did they help her ? Did they want her to go to a nursing home? SHE wanted to come to Florida, she can make her own decisions. If they did not her or offer to live with them. To hell with them all! There will always be grumbling from others when you try to help a family member especially a grandparent. Try not to listen to outside influences and carry on. I feel your pain with family. I’ve dealt with a sibling for years taking care of both our parents. After our dad passed it was just mother. It got to the point of her not being able to stay alone at 93. Instead of moving her into our home that had steps ( which she couldn’t handle) we sold our house and bought her much smaller house and moved in with her. The sibling didn’t like that idea at all but never wanted to help. It is what it is… your doing what’s best for Grandma. God Bless you and your family.

Best advice I was given by my Pastor was to tell the individual “if I upset you this much (7 page email of vitriol, when he’d done nothing to help), I will leave you alone.” I did.
