Follow-up video of what happened with the salvage jet-skis! Also, man injured after PWC accident yesterday. Awful weekend for these jet-skis owners!! CORRECTION: the green jet ski is a Sea-Doo 19/20 GTI 130, NOT a Spark.

One of the smartest things I saw here was the lady from the jetski collision staying calm while she was being swept out with the current. Easy to panic, but so much better if a person doesn't waste energy on a emotional freak out. Probably somewhat in shock. This is why a proper PFD is so important.

@@tubeee87 Sea state isn't a huge issue for a jet ski, they can handle some nasty stuff. I've been in some pretty good sized waves on Lake Erie and the ski handled it well. Just have to drive conservatively. That's really the key to safe boating, to just be conservative and not afraid to stay in if you aren't comfortable.

As a resonsible owner of two skis this was defenitly a scary situation for all.. If these are rentals, not sure why they dont have a designated area to ride in.. All the ski rental companies where we live in OCMD, have areas where they are only allowed to ride in. Also its in the bay, no where near the ocean, our inlet gets choppy but Haulover takes the cake for sure.. Great video as always my man.. Stay safe everyone..

@alanbrooks80 these is lack of inexperienced riders. You can tell by how they try to flip the jetski over. Also how they are mounting by the side me at 140 lbs in ocean city got taken by a wave and flipped. And I can flip a jetski in seconds. I have also taken the jestky through Miami Beach inlet. With about 4ft waves. And no issues these were rider mistakes.

Not all but some who operate wave runners, or jet skis seem to have the attitude that I can go anywhere, and do whatever I want with no consideration for weather, tides, sea conditions, or other boaters. Not only are they risking their, and their passenger's lives, but are creating a hazard to navigation with the capsized vessel in an obviously narrow transiting area. I've personally rescued two jet skiers, however I refuse to tow their jet skis in.

Instead of so many different agency vessels intervening in the same emergency with a single agent except the USCG, wouldn't better coordination and response from a multi-agent agency be better? Nothing wrong if it capsizes. But there is a skicker on the back to tell you which way to roll it back over, this keeps water (if it is inside the hull) out of the intake manifold so it doesn't hydrolock. If you go the wrong way it can be a serious problem. With the 4 stroke engines in them nowadays, they don't deal with ingested water very well. So once they start bobbing nose up, IF you get them out of the water without hull damage you can ussually save the motor if you are quick getting the water out and the oil changed a bunch of times to flush all the water out of it. But many times you still chase electrical issues. Many insurance companies totale them out if they have any hull damage where they sink and bob nose up.

I'm surprised the police boats are single crewed, it's very difficult to handle a boat in those conditions and effect a person rescue. If the boats are being used for that then at least double man them. Full credit for the officers who do manage to get the PWC in tow, let alone manage to get swimmers onboard, if they were injured it would be another matter.

My first thought also. It isn't like they have to lend assistance once or twice a shift, but perhaps a dozen times or more. One person isn't adequate to crew and rescue at the same time. What if someone has life threatening injuries, do you drive or bandage?
@TheByard
@TheByard Жыл бұрын
@@wyomarine6341 I singled crewed my 30ft cabin cruiser a lot through Holland and Belgium. The lines were prepared each side for coming alongside at the many locks. The fenders were left out both side and arranged so they worked with spring lines. I preferred to come along side the walls as it's easier than trying to find cleats on other boats to raft on. Life vests worn or to hand, not in lockers. Radio on dual channels. Bilge pumps tested, everything that if needed in a hurry was easy to get to. New crew briefed on emergency equipment and radio procedure before setting off. The waterways and lakes are commercial and busy places, the weather on the lakes changes quickly, so my motto was Be Prepared.

why are they even there when a PWC cant handle those waves, not too smart, we had a PWC and loved following the wake of a boat but this is to the extreme, the waves can push them in a bad situation, in Canada you have to have a boat license, I see kids out there

I think the majority of these skis were rentals (not the 1800R's). These rental guys tow skis around the sandbar area just inside the inlet and rent them to anyone without any instruction or care. They also clog up the 79th street ramp. This needs to stop.

What’s so annoying is the Police and Coastguard putting their own lives at risk to save these effing idiots, not to mention the cost.
