It never ceases to amaze me how many people over expose their boats to unnecessary pounding . I mean if you like that sort of thing then more power to you . And I realize that sometimes it's just UN avoidable . But as a person who does their own fiberglass repair / work there's nothing that turns me on more ( NOT !!!! ) then laying on my back on the ground fixing / repairing stress cracks . And believe me at some point you WILL have to deal with them . Now as far as grandpa he is very luck there was another body on that boat who had some idea what to do . As always thanks for the video .

I don't think the gene pool is getting cleaned out enough. 1:00 When a Mako flies and lands on its ass. 5:20 Sea Chaser takes flight, dock lines hanging from rocket launchers fly off. 5:50 Wait, where'd he go? Lucky the other guy had a clue about running the idiot's boat, especially since it required picking him up after MOB. Too bad it wasn't on video. I wanted to see him try to get back in the boat! Apparently he did, as we see him make a return trip later in the vid. 11:15 Waverunner pilot wears face mask, no eye protection. 12:00 Glad the garage-built jet-boat market is still strong and alive. 13:00 The gentleman in the 15' Whaler knows his boat handling skills and the inlet, despite his nervous passenger. No drama here. Livin' Off the Land is making a good living off the water. Nice job LOL.

12:47 I guess a good power to weight ratio, as usual, is more important than sheer size. These guys were literally dwarfed by that swell, but they never really seemed out of sorts. The hull never slapped the oncoming valleys or peaks of the swell as violently as many, many of the other smaller boats I've seen in these videos, and the skipper was able to keep a good momentum when necessary. In the 4x4 world there's a saying, "as slow as possible, as fast as necessary." Maybe this skipper subscribes to that as well.

@Alex-us2vw
@Alex-us2vw 4 жыл бұрын
You know many people who use the cord who aren’t riding a PWC? I’ve never used mine or felt at risk of being ejected from the helm, and lifejackets are present but no one wears them since unless you are running at like 50-60kts where things can go very wrong very quick leaving you unconscious there’s really not a worthwhile risk. If anything can wear one when crossing an inlet when conditions are nasty, but otherwise it’s kinda sill for adults when cruising at low speed.

Who the fuck wears a life jacket on a 50 ft boat? I haven't in 40 years, and I've never known anyone who has gone over. I'm a Waterman and I've grown up on a small island. its mostly morons who belong on the land in the first place who have all these accidents.

@@Alex-us2vw I use the lanyard in both of my boats, and wear life jackets. Things can go wrong in a flash. I picked two guys out of the ocean who were in a 17' foot boat. They lost power, the wind turned them stern to the waves and after a couple waves over the back the boat went down. From the first wave to the boat being submerged was less than 2 minutes, they weren't even moving. Once the boat is swamped it starts to roll and there's no time to rummage around getting out life jackets, people panic. Also have you ever seen dock poles, shipping containers or other big objects out there floating just under the surface? You can't see them until you're right up on them. Hit one of those at 20-30 mph and it's real easy to come out of the boat, and/or get thrown from behind the wheel. Life jackets and lanyards are like seat belts. Sure it's possible to go your whole life without wearing one, but the one time you need it could be the difference between no big deal and death.

When I was a teen, my dad and I would go out off Lauderdale in a 21 footer in seas that were “rolling”. We would go down in a trough that looked like we were in a bowl with sides 10 feet above and all around us. Then the opposite would happen as we would be pushed up on a crest 10feet above everything!!! Once up there, it was like you could see the whole world!!! Nothing scary, no jarring, no shaking,...like riding an elevator up and down...

These passes in the Channel come across as rude and dangerous to me as a Brit, no way this would be allowed in UK waters, just wondering is this accepted behaviour I USA or is it just a regional thing. I understand with the currents they have to keep the speed up, but does look like aggressive boating.

In my opinion our waters are alot more open or at least we have less courteous younger boaters then in UK. These youngsters don't have the respect thats comes with experience

Did the skipper of the sail-catamaran realize that the bridge clearance is only 32 feet and it's NOT a draw bridge?

somethings went overboard and he had a dive to save it, not hit by a wave! it is obvious.

Or he lost his footing on a slippery deck in a cavitating boat, we'll never know... I guess it sounds more exciting to say he was hit by a wave!

As a surfer it amazes me how some boat owners cant judge waves. Duh. Go sit on the beach for a week before you buy a boat

Thanks for the great video mate ,is there actual testing to obtain a license to operate a boat in Florida ?if so some of these boaters need these images forwarded to whatever department is responsible for licensing before they kill themselves or worse other innocent people. Cheers from down under.

From what I've heard there is no license or PFD requirement in Florida. Seems insane to me.
