Hello again. The weather has certainly been changing. One day it’s cool and windy the next day it’s 104 degrees. Glad to learn your AC & solar can keep up with the temps. The Blend Jet is a really nice device. We’ve been switching out for rechargeable devices vs plug-in just to simplify and love it. I bought a cordless coffee grinder and mixer over the last few months and we love them. Induction plates are my favorite because I believe gas fumes from cooking aren’t very healthy and also leave a film on surfaces. I love to set the timer and temp for slow cooking and come back to a meal. Mind you, I do keep an eye on it though. I don’t just leave. Saturday morning and coffee…it just doesn’t get any better. Enjoy your day.

We love our MB Class B. Great diesel mileage.we also run our air conditioning off the batterie’s. We won’t get as long as yours but, on a hot night without shore power, works great. Love you videos, but I have to say not the same without you both.

When in Des Moines visiting family we enjoy Saylorville Lake and the COE campgrounds. In fact, many COE campgrounds are about as good as it gets for camping. Cherry Glen is preferred as it is more rustic and shady than the others. Some of the sites are very unlevel so there is that. Prairie Flower campground is a good one for big rigs. Oh yeah, one more thing, with my lifetime geezer pass sites are only $11 per night!

True, you may notice that we stayed there in our Class A a couple years ago. We stay closer to our grandkids now though. We lived in this area for about 30 years and are very familiar with all these areas you mentioned and you are right. We aren’t quite at the “geezer” age yet, but yes, that is one of the perks with the America The Beautiful pass as well as it is then only a one time fee of $80 for lifetime instead of yearly like it is for the rest of us until the geezer years. 😉

We are at Red Bay right now getting stuff done on out Tiffin. ..and just had our gas oven and gas cooktop replaced with a huge deep drawer and the same cooktop as you have. I’m sooo delighted to be able to cook again- I don’t enjoy gas cooking- I love induction cooking. I use the convection microwave for baking- never used the big gas oven - lot more storage room and a flat countertop 🤗. That smoothie looked delish! I want That blender

Keurig coffee maker, electric skillet and paper plates, cut way down on water usage clean up. Will the Blend Jet handle apples? Currently use Vitamix and make enough for two people for a couple days, only 1 cleanup.

A Keurig is nice but is too big compared to the French Press we use, plus we feel coffee makers that hold moisture inside the unit is a breeding ground for mold. The induction top stove we have is electric so really no need to store away another electric cooking item unless a person wanted it to cook outside. We do use paper plates quite often and always have them on hand. There’s no reason for us to use them all the time though, especially when we are hooked up to full hookups at a campground. The BlendJet most definitely will handle sliced apples. 👍🏻

Thanks. We haven’t found a microphone that is comfortable to wear that doesn’t get annoying. Believe me, it’s frustrating when I edit and can’t hear one of us and try to split the audio clip, fade them together and try to increase the volume on the one side that sounds low. Many factors to consider that people don’t think about, but yes…it is annoying and sorry you’re for the troubles.

That would depend on how drained the batteries are. We have never had them go anywhere close to empty but in various videos we have talked about how long it took to charge them from the point they were at. The new model of the Grech RVs have a new AC unit this year that is a night and day difference. Very quiet and more to come on that very soon.

To stay out of the heat maybe park in the garage if it isn't too expensive. You won't be able to keep your batteries charged but you may not need to run the A/C as hard.

Either start the coach/drive and it charges off the extra alternator, shore power, 3,000 watt Xantrax inverter and 300 watts of solar. Running the coach and shore power charges the quickest by far.

Long-time follower but one thing I never knew. Other than your hard work creating and editing videos, what is your other job that you work at daily?

Hi Nancy, Brian works full-time with the channel. In fact, there is no way possible that he could do anything else with the hours he puts into the channel. It’s a big reason I gave him a little appreciation shout-out in a video earlier this year. Many have no idea of the blood, sweat and tears he puts into it. In fact, I have to help him with comments/questions quite often when I am finished with my 40 hr a week job while he continues to work on his long days. One thing I have learned is, the editing alone isn’t the same for all channels and differs greatly on how many clips a channel is editing for the video. The more talking there is vs lots of 3-5 second b-roll clips (I think I said that right lol), the less editing there is which takes less time. So yes, it is his full/time job ever since we started this channel 3 1/2 years ago and he actually works longer hours than I do. Thankfully, he slowed down a bit this last year so that we could start spending more time with friends and meeting new friends. What many don’t realize, is the many nights he goes back to work afterwards, late into the night many many times. So when someone asks, what do you do besides the KZbin channel, it is very obvious that they don’t realize what all is put into it. It’s a big reason why so many other channels have quit or gotten burned out. It can be much more than a hobby for many. Most importantly is Brian’s love for the people and creating these videos through his creative editing for those that look forward to them every week. Sorry for rambling on, I just wanted to make sure you and others understood the details. 🧡

I'm curious what happens if you're boondocking strictly on solar and get a couple of cloudy days. Or you end up in an area with a lot of trees. Is there an onboard type of generator to help the solar? BTW my first hubby was born in Burlington, IA. I never got there but I understand it's beautiful.

The solar on this does hardly anything, it’s the batteries that are so robust and they charge back up either when driving (the second alternator charges them) or when you hook up to shore power at a campground the also charge. Due to the batteries being so robust and only 300watts of solar, the solar only trickle charges the batteries. So a day of dry camping and then driving a few hours and your charged back up. It’s how we dry camped the entire trip from CA to FL when we first got the van. Small world, my cousin lives there too. 👍🏻

Brian loved the Freebird shirt!!do you carry a small inverter/generator onboard? Or not enough room.... I'm running numbers in my head on the cost and wear n tear on the van engine idling and gumming up your EPA emissions bs compared to small inverter/generator and hassles that come with it.

Happy Sunday!! You’ve inspired us to take life by the horns and enjoy the few years of vitality we have left. We have had a blast in our new Strada ion for app 24 hrs. Today we unhooked electric and took went to the store. Our house A/C quit working, nothing electric would work until we hooked up to electric again. Now, our Xantrex in inverter is beeping Code 10. Due to weekend, we can’t reach tech. Have you ever encountered this? We’re concerned about ruining our inverter 🥺 Help! Please! If you have any insight! Sorry for the delay, we have been out of cell service and internet as we have been in a National Park and traveling all day. We have not had that issue, but here is what I suggest trying until you can reach the tech. 1st, turn off the power to the Xantrex Inverter and wait about 10 seconds then turn it back on. The power button is right on the front of it. If that doesn’t work, go to your FireFly panel up by the sink/sliding door area and switch the batter disconnect button off. It’s right below the FireFly. Wait 10 seconds and then switch it back on. See if that takes care of the issue. It may just need reset and this should do it. The FireFly and Xantrex used to have a communication error but FireFly fixed that with a software update. Not sure if your issue is part of that same issue or not. If you contact Grech, they will be on top of it immediately to help. They are really great with customer service. Email us if you have any issues and we’ll get you in touch with the right person, but you shouldn’t have any issues getting their help.

Her office is downtown and there is only street parking at an hourly fee or parking garages, which we don’t fit in and also charge an hourly fee. The view at the Grays Lake is much better and still fairly close by.

It’s literally 2 miles down the road from her office, so the parking machines would definitely cost more for all day long. It’s something that was quickly considered on day one and just didn’t make sense plus no shade to top it off.

We have a Class B with 11,000 BTU Dometic. It didn't work well in high heat. Could only get it down about 10 -15 degrees. Yiurs looks like 13,500 BTU. How was the cooling in 100+ degrees and high humidity?

I (Michelle) work for the same employer I had when we lived in Des Moines. They just allowed me to work remotely when we sold our house & decided to RV fulltime. Brian is self-employed working fulltime on our YT channel & all that encompasses with that.

I really get the impression that you guys are hating the tight living in the van. For full-time use, it looks really, REALLY miserable. That van is better suited for a weekend or occasional week-long trip. The bathroom setup is intolerably tiny, there’s no good desk space (and essentially none for you), and there’s nowhere to just stretch out except for the bed. Ugh. I think your next RV should be the Jayco “jay feather” Micro trailer. A good in-between size smaller than your airstream and bigger than the van.

Appreciate your input, but you’re definitely misreading our life in this 24’ Class B van. My (Michelle) biggest issue is the bathroom, but I am adjusting. Be sure to catch next weeks episode that goes into it more. Remember…this is a temporary thing that we are testing…we did not buy this van and we disclosed this in the beginning.
