We lived in Lake George NY right down I-87 before moving to SC, Lake Placid is our happy place, our daughter got married in Lake Placid. We love lunch at the Boat House! So great seeing you enjoy our old stomping grounds!

Great to see Lake Placid. I was in the Air Force stationed at Plattsburgh AFB in 1980. And I was in Lake Placid when the USA won the gold in Hockey!

Lake Placid is amazing. I love the Mirror Lake Inn, use to spend 2 weeks there every year when I was attending the Lake Placid Horse Show.

My son who played ice hockey, played on the 1980 ice and it was very emotional for everyone…. Lake placid is a great place to visit. And of course everyone watched miracle on the way up, which made it even more exciting. Our boys went on to win the gold that tournament which made extra special.

My husband competed with his dog at the Great Outdoor Games held there many years ago. It was so much fun and so beautiful. Cute shops in town. I bought a hat, which I still have, at a shop called "Where'd you get that hat?" Probably not there any more but I enjoyed the town so much. The hotel etc looked amazing and I bet the food was indeed perfect. Maybe one day we'll get back there.

Having grown up in the Fingerlakes region of NY and traveled most of the state it is great to see you at one of my bucket list places I’ve yet to go. I still get goosebumps whenever I see footage of The Miracle on Ice. The other place is Letchworth State Park (the Grand Canyon of the east). Really enjoyed this video. Love watching your trip to the North Country. You were in my back yard! I was born and raised in Essex County, NY--east side of the county, but spent a lot of time in the Wilmington/Lake Placid area. The Village of Lake Placid is a hidden gem in the north county. We were actually in upstate NY (Saratoga area) when you were upstate. We grew up near Rochester NY and would go every summer for a 10 day ish stay at Fish Creek Ponds, about 45 min from Lake Placid. Fish Creek is one of the nicest campgrounds we have been to. There was so much to do in the area. Never bored. Beautiful walk around Mirror Lake. Rumor has it that Springsteen owned a home there and Gates on Lake Placid. we never stayed at the Mirror Lake inn as it is pricey but maybe someday. Eaten at the Cottage many times and a pub off the beaten path called Lisa G’s. Love it there.

Thanks for this one. I haven’t been to Lake Placid even tho it’s only 150 miles away. In the museum there probably is a display of Val Bialas who was a speed skater and from my hometown Utica NY. He participated in the 24 Olympics. In 26 was in a car-train accident and lost a leg so his career was over. Spent the rest of his life in the area teaching young athletes. This story told to me by my grandfather in the 70s. 😀

Thanks for the video. We love going to Lake Placid. The high jumps are amazing and John Brown's farm. You probably didn't get to go to the top of White Face. I don't know if it is still there but we use to eat at the Hungry Trout restaurant. It is near White Face. Glad you made it to Lake Placid. The Adirondacks is a beautiful place. We actually do go to Whiteface in the next video. It was stunning as the clouds REALLY added to the beauty. We did eat at Hungry Trout the second day in the area but didn’t film it. 👍🏻👍🏻

IDK if you’re still up there but if you are you might want to check out the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge. Pretty cool place with rescued wolves. Also in Tupper Lake is the Wild Center. Also cool but no wolves that I remember.
