Can't you go to immigration and pay the fees to renew, even before you have your passport? The same way here in California. You can pay your DMV fees before your car passes smog then if it takes a couple months of repairs to get the car to pass smog you don't have late fees with the DMV... You should be able to work out something like that with immigration so you don't have penalties

I've heard Filipinas don't always follow our sarcasm. Constant digs at your wife for sleeping until 11:00 a.m. unless she wants to go out with her friends are funny between the guys but might get you a bit of tampo.
