Reason For Mid Throttle Oscillations ?

After i had the same notorious midthrottle oscillations i though about locknuts and the influence they have on the motor vibrations. I tested on the bech and the results are night&day ! The stock locknuts are uneven & hole missaligned witch resulted in bad vibrations at some rpm range (midthrottle)

Motors in question are Emax RS2205 but i am shure this problem is present on other manufactures witch use normal metal locknuts and not aluminium ones witch have less error in manufacturing.

Dude after trying to fix mid-throttle oscillations and failing for two weeks i discovered this video. It fixed my problem. My prop nuts were beat up and unbalanced on my 3" using emax 1306 motors. I put on a fresh set of prop nuts and presto! Thanks a bunch. It was driving me insane.

Yes yes yes Livyu. I found out the same thing was happening to me a while ago. The originals iron nuts that came with the emax where the cause of all my vibrations problems.

Been suffering from MTO on a few of my recent builds, I’m going to try swapping the lock nuts out and see if that makes a difference.

Where does one find machined locknuts?

No doubt locknuts are a issue... use quality aluminum locknuts and you will not have this issue.. if you want to test it just hold your quad without props on and feel the vibrations without no nut then with steel nuts.. and you will feel a large increse in vibration... use aluminum nuts and bingo it will be close to how it feels without them... this was hugely noticeable back in the KK board days.

Livyu FPV back in the red bottom days lol.. yeah I know it's old.. BUT that doesn't change the fact that it's still very much true...steel locknuts are exactly the same quality and poor balanced now as they was then... but with much more powerful motors spinning much faster under load steel locknuts cause even more of a,issue now for MTO's

** SOLUTION! For all those struggling with MID THROTTLE OSCILLATIONS on KISS, ** (TL;DR- Setting up rc deadband on Taranis inputs solved this for good) It drove me crazy for weeks, Micro tuned my pids, LPF & Notch filters from all angles, It helped, but it wasn't perfect. Then I realised, There's NO RC DEADBAND feature in Kiss! (Betaflight has it). So, following this tutorial: kiss.flyduino.net/dwkb/setting-a-dead-band-on-the-taranis/ I setup a custom curve on all my inputs (except throttle, and oscillations / vibrations were gone!!!!!!!
