Just ordered one of Chewy yesterday! I'm super excited for it since I have some trouble finding ways to fill up my cage with accessories. I don't have a critternation so I can't hang anything from under the levels which makes it hard to fill up the cage sometimes. I'm sure my baby boys are going to LOVE this. (especially my nakey, who feels entitled to sleep on top of my velveteen to warm up)

The used rat cage I bought came with one. The two girls I got were with the rest of their sisters and mom in a cage with nothing but one hammock so I was amazed and how fast they took to that hammock.

Yup. I have a triple critter nation and 2 spacepods per unit. So 6 total. I use zip ties to reinforce them where they clip to the cage

I have one for my rats and it’s by far their favorite sleeping spot. All 4 of mine pile in there and they’ll even pull in bedding, cardboard, and loose fleece to make it more comfy. But it does become an ammonia bomb after a few days if they bring in bedding so it’s important to clean it out every few days.

My ratties loved their space pod! It is better when you hang it, and it's really easy to clean. It was very sturdy and I never had a problem with it. I had 4 ratties.

I use the method where you reward them for any interest in the item, but they just sniff it once, I give them a treat, and then they run off. 😐 Any tips? Should I rub a treat on it or something?

I know this is an old video but to anyone who’s looking for a UK site that is pretty fairly priced, I just ordered 4 of these space pods/sputniks in different colors for around $50 (that’s including shipping) on RatWareHouse.com. That’s about $12 each, and that’s also the current price of the purple/teal ones on amazon. I have a Halloween themed cage and I was able to get some black/purple ones!

I put the space pod in when I first set up my cage for my girls a few months ago. Although they have definitely started to branch out with their sleeping areas the space pod is always a favorite. They love to fill it with tissue and cardboard and just cuddle in there. I found that my rats much prefer it hanging from the top of the cage or even standing on the bottom rather than hanging sideways. Both my girls like to use sleep together so they both couldn’t comfortably fit into it sideways. Space pods and cheap hammocks are definitely a favorite (for both the rats and me).

can confirm the space pods are AMAZING. I've got two for my two babies and whenever I want to get them out of the cage so I can clean it, Skittle just REFUSES to leave it. Maybe I'll have to start removing the space pod with her next time d:

I have a question! Anyone is welcome to answer. How easy is it to get in and out of? My 3 girls would have no trouble, but I have a large (1lb 4oz, working on getting back to 1lb) neutered boy who is ~18 mo old. He's still active but not as athletic as the others. Should I hang it over a ledge of just leave it standing? Any advice is helpful!

I think leaving it standing might help him, or maybe use a ramp or make stairs to help him climb in. I have a 2 year old boy who can't climb any more and falls occasionally, so I've had to adapt the cage for him.

I live in the UK and have a small lime green (you're right about the size!) and a large bright pink space pod (I call them 'sputnik' ) for my 2 girls, though i'd much prefer a teal & purple one like you have :p

No - as they grow they will very much be too large for it. Even a 250 gram rat (small even for an adult female) will feel cramped in it. ust go for a large and they'll love it at all ages!

I wish they made an X-large, just a bit bigger than the large. I've never seen all four of my girls stuffed inside. They seem to limit it to three max, which means there's often a girl excluded. I always feel bad for the one left out, although I'm sure she's fine. That's when she gets to have a hammock all to herself!

Nope - its hard plastic so not easy to chew, and even if they do rats are great at distinguishing food from non-foods and they will spit out anything non-food that they chew.

So CUTE. LOVE YA Girl LOVE Ya Video/s WOW I wish my girls would use it, I brought a few (6) just so I could have a couple in the cage and some for free time etc (I now only have 2) I donated 2 to a my son friend who has guinipigs and 2 to my RSPCA Animal Shelterso I hope they can enjoy useing them anyway I put fleece in it left shreaded paper and tissues etc near it and in their nest material box (Plastic Box on side of cage) it has Fleece peices, tissues/Paper Towel, shreaded paper and dried hay I think it is??) I have even left it bare (No Fleece etc) for them to do what they want and all they do is use it to walk around the top of the cage as a through way THEY will NOT Sleep in it. It will be Cool Does anyone have any ideas to encourage them. PLEASE HELP! "Rats Rule Rats Cool" :):):):)
