Go to archive.org and check out a show called Beyond the Wall of Sleep. It is like a modern-day answer to 120 Minutes, but on the radio out of Idaho Falls. Devon (the host) cancelled it last January when Bowie died. I keep emailing him to resurrect it, but so far...no luck. Still, we have 8 years of back log that we can enjoy!

I remember this was like 1994 and this song and Jen Trynin's Better Than Nothing were two of my favorite radio tunes when I switched over to 106.3 (central jersey modern rock at the jersey shore, lol). I was going back and forth between early 90's hip hop and poppy guitar rock (still two of my favorite types). Also, I used to subscribe to Details magazine, and they'd send out compilation CDs all the time... pretty sure both Supernova and Better than Nothing were on one of them.

She had a unique sound so different from what was going on. the critics focused on the lyrics and how "no woman has ever been so blunt about sex" or whatever (and whoa, the critics were always men, who knew?). But I honestly she created a new sound. i always thought they were really incredible pop songs disguised as rock with an edge. And i listen to these new women....Tone Lo or Sia or whoever.....Phair influenced SO MANY artists, male and female who started being aware of pop songs in a different form. I miss 93/94 so much. But Phair has survived, many have not. all love to her.

Unless you had call waiting. Then, you had to deal with the lost connection, wait until the end of the call, and attempt to reconnect. The initial dialup procedure took at least 30 seconds before you were "in" and could do anything. I can remember a 30 seconds video took about 15 minutes to download. Kids today couldn't live under those conditions.
