It’s making fun of Liza Minnelli who was a famous performer and singer and actress (Judy Garland’s daughter) and also taking a loving irreverent jab at how long it takes people in musicals to do anything simple (like turning off a lamp) because they’re too busy signing and dancing. It’s multilevel Broadway humor that’s so incredibly brilliant and wonderful but they really needed an audience who understands those things

One of the funniest bits ever. "...look how long the cord is...Ben Vereen it's long...I'm not gettin' anywhere with it, it's like Tommy Tune!" I had to go get some air after this Wiig masterpiece.
