Info about our RV cameras and our hitch: WHAT WE PURCHASED (and how to do it cheaper). Our total was about $850, it can be done for about $500, see notes. Four cameras: www.supercircuits.com/4-megapixel-starlight-ip-turret-security-camera-98-feet-night-vision-hnc14-uai-0 One NVR recorder: www.supercircuits.com/8-channel-ultra-h-265-ip-network-video-recorder-nvre0801-0 The reason to get 8 channel is if you want to have more than four cameras, either now or in the future. If you know you want just 4 channels you can save by ordering a four channel NVR. When we ordered the recorder, we added 2 Terabyte memory which they installed. We see that we have about two weeks of data by leaving four cameras on all the time. Therefore we think you'll be fine by adding just 1 Terabyte memory at time of order. Word of advice from a trucker: The laws in ALL of the states in the US require drivers to either (1) move over OR (2) slow down when any police car or emergency vehicle with it’s lights flashing is parked on the shoulder. A buddy of mine got caught once doing neither and it cost him a bunch of time and an attorney fee to get the ticket reduced to a non-moving violation.

Truck driver here! I’m a professional driver, I drive for a living so I’m more aware of the driving laws than others, You should’ve signaled too get over, maybe someone would’ve let you over, if you can’t get over, you’re too slow down too half the posted speed limit and stay as far too the left as possible while still being in your lane, this isn’t just law for emergency vehicles, this is also the law for anyone working on the highway tow trucks, construction crews, etc. Although I believe they should make the move over law too include moving over for everyone. Even tho you’re not required by law too move over for stopped passenger vehicles on the shoulder it is the respectful and safest thing too do. Stay safe y’all.

don't listen to this driver, DO NOT SLOW DOWN TO HALF THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT!!! i have been a truck driver for 27 years. if you do this and someone rear ends you you will be at fault. yes you should slow down maybe about 10-15 mph. think about it if the speed limit is 55 and you slow down to half like this person says to do, you are now doing 27.5 mph on a freeway. he is right to move over if you can. the law says to move over when safe to do so. you can and will cause an accident if you do what he is saying to do.

Most freeways are 70-75 mph if you’re in the right lane and can’t get over you should be slowing down by more than 10-15 mph the police will get your ass if you don’t. But I guess in your example of a 55 mph speed limit 10-15 mph would work as that would be 35/40 mph. Around the same speed as slowing down halfway from 70-75 mph.

@@DemonsAdventures do you not understand the English language? I see it’s not your strong suit as you clearly missed everything I said. 55 isn’t the speed limit on 99.99% of freeway in America. 70 mph is the majority. 55 mph is typically the minimum speed in most 70 mph zones. I never said too travel at a low speed, I said if you can’t get over too lower your speed too pass. I assumed a 70 mph speed limit when I said half so maybe I didn’t communicate that clearly enough. I never said too impede traffic. And no if they rear end you because you slowed down due too an obstruction such as passing a cop with no ability too get over for a few seconds, they would be 100% at fault for following too closely.

Just so you know, the ticket is a real traffic violation in Kentucky, as a violation of Kentucky Revised Statutes Title XVI. Motor Vehicles § 189.930. It says you must move over for the stopped police vehicle if safe or slow down if the lane change is not safe. It does not say how much to slow down, but the law in Texas (where I live) says slow down to 25 mph below the speed limit if you cannot move over.

The driver of this truck had many options to get over. First, there was plenty of time to get over, the car in the middle lane had a quarter mile of empty lane to get over. All it required was for the driver to put their blinker on for lane change to inform the car in the middle lane he was coming over. Plenty of time for that. Second, the driver could have slowed as much as needed until the middle lane cleared if they had doubts. ..Third, the driver saw the emergency vehicle long, long before they even got close to it, yet never made any attempt to get over. Slowing down even way lower than 45 would have been the last option. Appears the driver had an issue with depth perception and refuses to acknowledge it. Making excuses and refusing to pay tickets is not responsible driving. At their age, they should know better.

Knowing the state laws is half the battle. Here in Florida if you can't vacate the lane, you need to go 25 under the posted limit. It didn't appear this trooper was in the middle of a stop, and was simply sitting there with his lights on waiting for violators. It may still be a violation, but real shady practices on the part of the Trooper. I'm curious if this is normal practice or a lone trooper looking for stats. I'd fight that. And I'm a 25 year LEO.

Man that's scary. My husband and I were dragging a new boat. We were singing songs and didn't notice so someone was behind us the boat was straight up behind and we were singing away. It was really funny. We fixed it and laughed about it. Everything turned out fine. Then we got to fl and sun was going down. Husband wanted to put boat in river for a little while. I said wait until tomorrow. He did it anyway. Well we got stuck on a sandbar and it was dark. Kids were crying I said I'm divorcing you. We called a friend who came and pulled us out . I said when are you gonna start listening to me a woman's intuition.Anyway I didn't divorce him. Then we got to our new place. Next day we found a crab in the yard The kids and I took it to the ocean and put it in and said be free. We thought we were saving it's life. We had halos over our head. Then our friend said it was a land crab. Then a week later there was a big white pig in our backyard so I said awww and walked out there thinking of green acres. A neighbor yelled go in the house that's a wild boar then animal control came out with two dogs. It tore one of them up but he lived. All was well the Lord was watching over us saying poor people don't know much about fl. Hahaha 😂

I read some reviews where people had the ball snap off in hard braking or low speed collision situations, sending the pin box through the back window of the truck. We ended up with a Demco Recon hitch which works with the Atwood goose ball in our truck. Yes, it's heavy, but it installs in three peices so not bad.

Grayson Kentucky is well known for doing this kind of stuff. I drive thru there 4 to 5 times a year, every time I see cars and trucks pulled over. I myself received a speeding ticket for going 1 MPH over posted limit. I had to take my truck in to dealer to have speedometer checked. According to the report, they found it to be 3 MPH off, on the slow side. Since I had my cruise control set at the posted speed limit, I was actually going 3 MPH under the limit not 1 MPH over it. I went to court, won the case, the cop told me next time he sees my truck he's going to pull me over and find drugs and guns in it. I laughed in his face, go ahead and try it, see what happens. Doesn't know I transport military weapons and ammunition routinely. I can't wait for him to try it!!

You two are great! I’m enjoying your content. I’m also an old state trooper, so I can shed some light on your experience. First, your cameras are great - nice to have a good record - but in my state your cameras would have convicted you, because you didn’t slow as required. Also, I can’t speak for Kentucky, but our patrol cars have cameras facing forward and back, and the date, time, and speed are indicated on the video screen. Next, we routinely leave our lights on after a traffic stop so we can reduce the risk of being struck while we are completing paperwork. Why? Because we don’t want to have our eyes down working on the computer while the person we just stopped is still there. That’s a dangerous habit - so we should keep our head on a swivel until we’re alone, and then finish up. The lights stay on to slow traffic and reduce risk while our attention is focused inside the patrol car. Even that isn’t ideal, but it’s much more efficient than getting off the highway. Finally, we don’t need to create a “trap” to find law violations. Very few people really understand all the DMV laws, and even fewer attempt to consistently follow them. Vehicles are much safer than they used to be, with crush zones, ABS, and other electronic intervention that prevent crashes and make them survivable when the do occur. In spite of that, the fatality rate in my state continues to climb sharply. People are drinking, smoking pot, fussing with their cell phones, watching movies, speeding, eating - pretty much everything but juggling while driving. I’m about to retire after 33 years, and I’m convinced people are a little more foolhardy and a little less aware of potential consequences every year. Finally, every state and administration is different but, for us, the primary directive is motor safety. Basically, we’re trying to stop people from killing each other, which they seem determined to do. None of the revenue from our tickets comes to our agency, and much of it is directed to the counties, which contribute nothing to our department budget. We have no quotas, and when trooper activity is evaluated a warning is seen as equivalent to a ticket. Every trooper is different, but I warn most people. I ticket those who seem to require a ticket - that includes those who have terrible driving records, those who are engaged in extremely dangerous behaviors, those who deny the violation I witnessed and recorded on video, and most of those at high speeds with radar detectors. Most of being a state trooper is boy scout work. I’ve changed a lot of tires, rescued a lot of families who headed into the cold completely unprepared, and so on. I’m never surprised by how completely unprepared, untrained, incompetent, impaired people can be…. There are millions of rolling dumpster fires out there just racing around looking for their place to crash, so unless I can get well off the shoulder or behind a barrier, I keep my lights on after a traffic stop until I get back into traffic. I’ve seen several lifetimes worth of death and other awful, including trooper death, so I don’t feel bad about slowing people for two or three minutes. I hope this helps.

To add to that, I am a 22 year patrol deputy in Florida, where we also have a “move over” law. For that officer to remain in the emergency lane under the overpass after (possibly) completing a traffic stop is foolish. We have minimal control over where a person stops their vehicle, but we have total control of our patrol vehicle (and ourselves) when a traffic stop is completed. For him to remain where he was instead of driving forward 30 yards and pulling onto the grassy shoulder indicates he was less interested in keeping himself in a safe position while (possibly) finishing paperwork, than he was in stopping a motorist. If I were a tyrant, I could just sit on the shoulder of ANY road with my emergency equipment activated (for no reason) waiting for a motorist failing to move over just so I can hand out a citation. If the law is to keep first responders safe, it is also incumbent on first responders to keep themselves safe at the conclusion of a traffic stop. I see he wasted no time “finishing that important paperwork” to conduct this traffic stop.

The comment about having a good partner caught my attention because of what happened to us. We were on the PA turnpike going through a construction zone when a truck came up on the left and was so close I was sure it was going to take out our mirror or side swipe us so I made the slightest adjustment to move to the right. BUT, I was already so close that we ended up bouncing off the cement construction zone barrier and we had the scariest minute of our lives. Fortunately, I maintained control of the rig and we slowed down and were able to take the exit which we were at. Once we took the exit, I pulled safely off onto the shoulder and we both got out of the MH and I was a tad upset! My dear wife just came over, gave me a hug and said "It's OK....we're all right". Fortunately, there wasn't any damage that prevented us from continuing the ride home so after taking a lunch break and some time to get calmed down, we were able to get home. I confess....I still get a little apprehensive in construction zones, but last fall, we traded in our MH for a Winnebago Via (Sprinter chassis) and driving a rig that is only 7 1/2 feet wide has made it fun to be on the road again.

Funny. Cop pulls you over, for not moving over, but when he pulls up behind you on the shoulder, his front wheels are STRAIGHT! So if someone hits him from behind, it will propel his car straight into the vehicle in front! They are supposed to cut the wheels to the left, FOR HIS SAFETY!

As an ex tow trucker & truck driver; this law is a subjective revenue-based law because they know most out of staters aren't coming back for court (cha-ching) but, if a lane change isn't possible then slowing way down is the right and only option. Pain in the tukus yes, but, again, the right, and the cheaper thing to do!

I'm by no means an expert on traffic laws but if I'm not mistaken, for any reason it's not safe to give a wide buffer lane change then a reduction in speed to the plausible limit should be the next allowed option.

Those state-wide policing-for-profit campaigns are such a joy. In Texas, we have an annual "Click-It Or Ticket" campaign to remind us of seatbelt use. Since it was y'all's first time to be pulled over for not reducing speed passing an emergency vehicle, they should have let you off with a warning. After all, police aren't penalized for their mistakes. Citizens should be afforded the same courtesy for a first time.

My advice to you and me included especially with a big rig in tow or if I have to be somewhere or if I am in a new city is to turn in the voice prompts on the GPS system like Google Maps. It really helps me make all my turns when I need to. I know it can interrupt the mood of the music being played, but it’s worth it at times like when a 10 mile journey turns into 300 miles and you need to get to an appointment. Just my 2 cents….(stepping off soap box) Be safe and Godspeed

Let me help you out. This was not a speed trap. It's not a law to just fix roadways, it's a law to keep people safe, people like me. Ohio is not a mandatory court appearance for the first offense and it is a citation that starts off with 2 points being added to your driving record. The cameras you have do not vindicate you at all. You failed to BRAKE. Yes, you might not have gotten over safe, but you also did not BRAKE and that is required when you can not get over. The cop had been on the shoulder with his lights on probably completing the paperwork from the previous traffic stop he performed. Just because we get back to our cars after issuing your citation, does not mean we are done with the stop. We still have other paperwork that must be completed. This is usually the time I then write my statement of facts for the Judge / Prosecutor to read. I find that the number one issue with people in the US these days, they do not watch the news or TV at all for that matter. This has been around for years and you certainly would have known the law if you paid attention to something simple as this. This is how we stay informed as to the type of crimes being committed in our areas we live, so we know how to combat the issues to keep us and our property safe. 1: Move over to the next lane or 2: Slow down when you go past the cop. I did not see one ounce of braking taking place and you had time to do it before passing the officer. They chase you down with lights and sirens???? Please, that is what they have to do. When the lights comes on, so does the siren. The only time I have my lights on only is when I'm heading to a burglary in progress, so I can catch the thief in the middle of his thievery. Sorry for the rant, but your video came across as putting down law enforcement for doing their job. All 50 states have this law and it protects those in public safety and the community on our roadways. There are 300+ people that die each year caused by fatal injuries they receive by passing motorists. I get it, some of them, they put themselves at risk, but others, it was simply a driver distracted by using his / her cell phone while driving. Another way to get a ticket now. I have spent 30 years in public safety, still working as a police officer, firefighter, and paramedic, and I'll tell you I have almost been hit a few times because of peoples inattention while driving past emergency scenes.

Hey, just saw your video…very cool!!! The travel of you hitch can induce fatigue and eventual failure. In order to reduce the travel, go to an auto parts store and buy some ‘57 Chevy motor mount bushings and grade 8 fender washers if the same size. This will allow to torque the hitch down while blunting the wear and tear on your truck. Hint: it also works well for the rear shocks on classic Mustangs!

You are also required to move over to the far left when emergency vehicles have their lights going while stopped on the shoulder.

As a two million mile accident free semi driver I learned to move over when safe, even if I have to move over a little too early because of traffic volume but to only move half way into the next lane so to block off smartasses that would angrily try to pass me on the right. It's always safer to move over when driving a larger vehicle because of the wind that the vehicle makes when we pass - it's enough to cause an open hood to slam down or to rock a car off a jack during a tire change. You can tell a small child to stay in the car but if your cellphone rings and it's deemed an important call that child may think getting out is more important. Turn on your turn signal early and start letting people know you're serious about needing to move over.

I’ve actually had that same thing happen to me after calling in street. Racers on the freeway in which the police had pulled limo, pulled some of them over and there was still more racers to the left of me and I was in the right lane which prevented me from moving over when we came upon the pulled over vehicles. So the police took off after me pulled me over and started chastising me, and that’s when I explained to them or to the officer that I was the one that called in and the and the vehicle that he had pulled over on the side of the road was the vehicle. I initially reported for street racing , and about 30 other cars that were behind him and when we came up to his location, they had blocked me on the land so I couldn’t move over and for safety. I was blocked in so he understood that check my identification on the report that was called in and realized I was who I said I was, and he realized that there were other cars blocking me in so he let me go

I give way to cars signaling to move left I pull to left lane. Cop on shoulder pulls out exactly as I pass him. POS pulls me over and gives me a ticket for “no trucks in left lane law.” I explain that I moved left for his safety. $360 fine. No more Bergen County cops a few years now they really are A Holes. I got another ticket I didn’t deserve from them. That’s another story for another time.

Well we bought a small Jayco couples camper went from Ohio to Indiana and brought it home all’s good Sunday night went to car wash and noticed the top of the bed is touching the back of the cab . Get the truck home ( 2005 dodge 2500 crew cab 8 foot bed only to find out my frame is broken in half both sides , tube rust from inside poor design so no niagara Falls Niagara Falls I called my brother he says oh take my truck. He has a 2002 Ford excursion so I drive 150 miles get his vehicle get within about 15 miles of my home and blow the right rear tire out and made a mess out of his quarter panel, so when I was done, we did go to Niagara Falls had a great time and now I got a find somebody to repair a frame. I wish dodge would have designed things a little different these tubular frames get water in them and no drain holes in the bottom so they just fill up with water and write out so that’s my story. Great to hear your story I’ve driven truck and yes, there are a lot of states that don’t put up with not moving over or slowing down. Almost to a stop as you go bye, I understand why but in the same token aren’t you’re supposed to get rear ended trying to slow down on an interstate highway and the people behind you don’t always see those flashing lights. They need to get further off the road when they do stops then they do a and and should not stop anybody at the guard rail. They should tell them to move up to where the guard rail and butt so much for that. Y’all have a great time and be safe out there.
