Fantastic vid and excel resource. Here's a tip. On column C row 17, enter the following formula: =ROUND(B17*8,0)/8 and you will round to the nearest 1/8th. If you want to express in 8ths v fractions, choose number formats from excel, fractions and choose 8ths for the number is column C. Copy down for each measurement so that it becomes B18, B19 etc as it follows down.

this is so helpful! Could you provide more guidance on appropriate curve lines for the leg hole on the front, and the curve of the gusset's left and right sides? edit: I sewed up my muslin, and one thing I learned from trial and error--if the curve of the leg hole cuts in deeper than where the gusset attaches, this will remove coverage from the pubic area. It might be helpful to draw an upside down triangle shape coming out of the gusset to remind yourself to stay close to the leg crease for the first third of the leg hole on the CF

So I just finished drafting my block...i made a toile. It fits like a glove...i just have a question about adjusting where the gusset sits. I noticed you used standard measurement for the front and back extensions but I noticed that for me the gusset sits a little too far back so the front seam is at the middle of my crotch area right in between my legs and the back gusset seam sits kind of high so I can see it if I look at my bum area. I assume to adjust this whatever I take off of either the front and back extensions I would add to the top and bottom of the gusset, right? Just wanted to be sure before I toile it again? Also was wondering if I make my block with a standard .8 reduction factor but I decide to use a fabric with significantly more or less stretch do I use the same block and just move the adjusted waist and hip to correspond to the new rf?

Thank you so much for this! Using your instructions I just made 2 of the most comfortable pairs of underwear ever! I do have a question though - even though they're comfortable, there seems to be a bit too much fabric across the butt (a little sagging along the gusset area and the elastic along the mid-butt scooches toward the center line an inch or so when I move around). Do you think I need to redraw my block using a higher reduction factor (smaller number)? I'm using bra builders stretch mesh at a .9 reduction. Thanks again!
@LizSews4 жыл бұрын
Stretch mesh is really stretchy ( typically around 60-100%) and a .90 factor is for fabrics that have 30% stretch. It’s likely you need to use a different reduction factor. I have a video on how to measure you fabrics stretch % ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/hInNl3dpo9-ka5Y ) then once you determine that, use the chart on the right hand side of the worksheet to find the appropriate reduction factor based on your fabric

I know that this was done 4 years ago but I am just looking for this information now. I am not sure I understand how you will get these panties on over your hips. If the waist is 10" narrower than the hip measurement and you are compensating for the stretch of the fabric at .8 that makes the waist 24" unstretched. 24" x 1.4 for 40% stretch = 33.6" at full stretch for the waist, over 6" smaller than your hips. Could you explain how they will fit?
@vl28095 ай бұрын
Really informative video! Unfortunately, this didn't work for me as especially the back side ended up being far too small for me, specifically, the amount of fabric constructed didn't give enough coverage for the back part to go up to the waist as constructed.

@LizSews3 жыл бұрын
the spreadsheet has a chart on the right hand side to help you select a reduction factor. This pattern is not recommended for fabrics with less than 30% stretch.
@kanashiiookami65373 жыл бұрын
The pattern for the most part is super easy to draft, but if I input my measurements into your calculator with the basic stretch it adjusts my hip width (which without stretch is 9.875") to 7.9" and that .9 bit isn't on your calculator, and Google has failed me. (Telling me to put in either 0 or it converts it to 20cm which is basically an inch) so is this a glitch and it was supposed to say 8"? Because when I take of the .5" of my 39.5" hip measurement it adjusts to 7.8" instead..... Sorry, if this is obvious. I suck at math and only understand basic measurements. But I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thank you. 😅
@LizSews3 жыл бұрын
