This was great! I saw that you mentioned a third video coming but haven’t been able to find it. I’d love you final thoughts on LUMIX. As I’m also. Sony shooter who is interested in some of the video features of the s5iix.

I see you mostly keep the E-stabilization on which is not all needed or recommended in the Lumix, especially in the low light condition. You are good to go with the standard IBIS alone for majority of times and can play with the Boost Stabilization mode occasionally. I have been using the S5IIX for few months, (few of my recent 4K videos on my channel are shot on S5IIX) and I just simply keep the standard IBIS on, so far used only hand held, thanks to the wonderful IBIS. I never bothered about the e-stabilization, tried few times but it ruins the night shots. if I need any further stabilization, i can do it in the post and have my control over it.

I need to sell my sony cameras. I had the S1R and was so good but at that time i was shooting different content that needed the fast AF. Now i'm focusing on portraits and since the S5II have PDAF i'm excited.

So let's talk about the elephant in the room - if you need 60p slow motion, you get not only aps-c crop, but if you turn on e active stab then you get 2.8 crop on top of full frame, which makes your 24 mm like 50 ml. THAT is insane, Huge disadvantage in my opinion..

Lovely images! I considered this ecosystem due to the features and look. But now considering Sony due to better lens options, AF, and body options. For my vacations, EDC currently evaluating the ZVE1.
@TomOhle19 ай бұрын
I wouldn't necessarily consider the Sony as having better lens options. Most all of the Lumix lenses have focus breathing controlled natively. Sony uses a breathing control feature that crops into your frame if you are using certain GMaster lenses. It doesn't work with many of the regular 1.8 Sony FE lenses or third party. Also the Lumix 1.8 lineup is all similarly weighted and sized so that you can easily swap out on a gimbal without needing to rebalance. Don't get me started on the stabilization - the active steady shot on the Sony again crops info your image and their native stabilization in body is nowhere near as good as Lumix or Canons. What I'm getting at is not that the Sony ecosystem is terrible - it's clearly not, but you need to consider all the trade offs that come with Sonys lens design and smaller mount size for video work. Just my 0.02 :)

Sony has sooooo many options when it comes to cameras, and their sensors are fantastic, but I feel like when I really dig deep into what they offer for video or photos I always land on Cameras that seems to stretch my budget much more than the cameras that initially peeked my interest. Lumix seems to offer soo much more bang for buck and the anamorphic capabilities in camera really have me thinking. I would be shooting mostly adapted lenses, and nothing anywhere as neer the level of professional production work you do for your chanel much less your commisioned comercial work, so I am ok to have a little more work and time to focuss on my capture process, I loved that zoom, in screen, when manually focussing. Maybe I won't have to sell my media format film bodies and lenses to afford a nice video rig after all. Great video the footage was very inspiring. ❤

This camera is not only impressive but easy to use. Seriously. I've had it for about a full year and it always performs well for me and leaves my clients happy. I love that it's super easy to use, reliable, great looking, and continues to get awesome updates. I can't wait for the 3.0 firmware to launch. For anyone interested I recently added a 12 month long term review of this camera on my channel.

Most likely only till they got another sponsorship from a camera brand just like all other youtubers who "switch to another brand" due to sponsorships. Just like Chris Hau very obviously did. This is why I slowly start to distrust most photography youtubers. They are only positive as long as they get paid for the sponsorship. Then they just ditch the camera for another "perfect" camera which brand paid a shitton of money for for a sponsorship like Panasonic did with a lot of youtubers. No wonder the s5iix pops up again as KZbin videos.

I had an A7 III, now on an S5 IIx after considering the A7S III and A7 IV. S5II vs A7SIII mostly comes down to: A7S III handles slow motion way better (less cropping + better AF in slow motion), much better AF in general, better battery life, more lens options (though L mount is progressing nicely) S5 II has way better IBIS which was a big deciding factor to me. Digital stabilisation is fine in other cameras but it results in smeared frames if you have a 180degree shutter speed - so the S5 II is much better for run and gun/handheld. It has more in-depth/feature rich video options, better handling of being a hybrid (you can pick what settings are synced/unique between video/photo), more recording options in terms of format, compression/data rate, open gate 6k. Internal fan too so it'll never overheat during really long shoots/takes. Price is also a huge factor, with the S5 II being quite a bit cheaper. Then a lot of the other differences are more personal preference, I prefer V-log so far, the menus are more logical on the S5, and setting up button shortcuts/customisation is really fast. I miss the battery life of the A7 III, and the AF definitely requires more hand-holding in terms of the right setting vs Sony. Overall there's no clear winner for everyone (IBIS won me over personally) and I feel like Panasonic don't really hold back features, they seem to cram as much in as possible while Sony sometimes feels like they drip feed/hold back some things, or only update certain cameras.

IBIS, DR and AF are impressive. But the S5 has better overall rendering with better organic look and better details, the GH6 when using 6K too, but with even nicer colors. So the camera is very good yes, but really impressive maybe not. But Panasonic has everything to made the S1HII and S1II the best cameras below 5000$ to date.
