She wrote old money to reminisce about her times in this trailer park. When people accused her of lying about not having money when she truly had nothing because she was trying to gain independence from her parents. It’s not that she didn’t have a good relationship with them, she mentions her fathers love being strong and her mom being an inspiration to her yet she still “felt alone”, so she carved her own path and left them behind. But coming from “old money” was like a curse and it followed her around making it almost impossible to find this freedom she always seeked. In the song she also mentions the blue hydrangea, the white sunshine meaning the sun that shined over the white trailers, the small children, and most importantly, Jim. The fact that this interview shows all of that truly shows how authentic Lana is to her music. She’s not putting up an act, it’s not a character, it’s literally her life. And that’s why her songs hit so strong in the heart, because we’re experiencing someone’s life through melodies
@eleanortroube83173 жыл бұрын

the term ‘old money’ means you’ve inherited wealth though, so how does that fit
@kimberlyvargas92363 жыл бұрын
@@rubyluisa1756 you’re not paying attention. She comes from money, her parents had money. I’m saying she never wanted that money or rep, she wanted to carve a path of her own and make her own wealth through her art. But the term old money always haunted her bc she can’t escape her family’s wealth and name. Especially when she first started, the tabloids wouldn’t let her move past that

She could still fall back on money. Doesn’t matter if she didn’t like her mom. If she came to her parents asking for money in desperation her mother would give it to her. A poor persons mother COULDNT. And Lana talks about how much she loves her father. So not that “toxic” of a relationship to get money. What is it with the denial? It’s like Lady Gaga’s fans, pretending that she made it on her own. Lady Gaga’s parents were insanely wealthy. She kept telling the story about how her father “would only pay her rent for a year and if she didn’t make it in the industry that he would cut her off “ . That was supposed to be something of a struggle? she said her father paid for her rent while she got to perform at clubs all year making music. That is not real life for most people. Both came from money.

It’s quite intriguing that Lana is going to channel this era again, according her recent interview “White Dress” is going to be about her experiences throughout this time and some have even said that it’s going to be one of her most sentimental songs of all time, and now it’s understandable that she’s bringing this era into reference because she has been in the industry for approximately 10 years and I have the assumption that Lana always resonated with Lizzy but she just didn’t know how to involve her in her current music, but now she’s not only incorporating Lizzy’s sound but also her aesthetics. Gathering from The White Dress snippet I have the expectation that this song is just a visualization of her Lizzy days, which we all are acknowledged of that it was not her most prosperous times and she has had encountered a lot of disadvantages within those times, so I just can’t wait to see what her current interpretation of Lizzy is going to be like and I’m still astonished that she has referenced this interview in her latest Instagram post, considering that she has never really been confessional about Lizzy and her occurrences during that time, just from that alone I can tell that this era is going to be very distinctive from NFR. Not saying that Norman wasn’t sentimental or vulnerable, but I have a feeling that we are going to witness another side of Lana that we have never encountered before and not just surrounding her Lizzy persona but also the fact that she said that the album is going to be about her friends and family. So just think the album is going to be an embodiment of what her current live is settled.

She is very sweet and sincere here. It saddens me though that you'll never see her with this kind of joy again. It doesn't line up with the part she's playing now.

I grew up in this town (North Bergen, NJ) and I know this trailer park very well. Sadly, it's been cleared of all the trailers, redeveloped & is now newly built rental units.

Woooooooow! How wholesome, and how genuinely happy she is just to have a place of her own, and isn't ashamed of these small beginnings she had. So genuinely happy about all of the small things is life that most people take for granted. I also do wonder though if she was completely sober during this interview lmao! I can't tell if it's just her nerves or something else. Hearing her talk about wanting to work some bigger names...boy, if she had any idea of where she would be now. I love seeing these videos of artists before they became big. She is literally my favorite artist. Her newest album is absolute fire.
