I remember that song! It was the summer of 1987!!! I worked at "Schmidt's Sausage Haus" as a dishwasher and my boy Steve had just got his first car!! Steve used to BLAST every track on that cassette "Bigger And Deffer" every single day from the factory stereo of his brand new 1987 Black Ford Escort Pony coupe!!! You couldn't tell us nothing the Summer of 1987!!! He even had a working car phone installed!! We definitely had SWAG even back then!! I'll never forget those memories!! Tragically, Steve lost his older brother Brian, in the winter of 1993!! He was shot to death by a vigilante police officer, who exacted his revenge on Steve's brother, after chasing him through some low-income housing projects!! The cop shot Brian 15 times in the back after he discovered his partner was dying from a gunshot wound to head. He was laying face down on the ground in the snow handcuffed and unarmed!! I recently reconnected with Steve on Facebook, almost 30 years after the last time we spoke or saw each other! He just stopped talking to me and disappeared from Facebook altogether mysteriously. But LL Cool J's music is an indelible part of our history of growing up in the late 1980s! Rest Easy , Brian Davis! 1964-1993 🙏 🌹 💐 ✝️ 🕊

LL COOL J was pretty much how I got into hip-hop. My parents took me to see a 1990 movie called The Hard Way starring Michael J Fox and LL COOL J had a small part in it. There's a scene at the beginning in a club where Mamma Said Knock You Out plays. I was totally floored by how awesome and badass that song was. For my birthday I asked my Mom to buy me the cassette tape and that was it. Hooked for life on hip-hop. Real hip-hop will never die! Thank you LL COOL J.

Happy belated birthday, LL! LL released his first album in 1984, when he was 16 years old. I was born in 1985. I have never known life without LL Cool J in it. Literally grew up on LL Cool J content. Around the way girl was released when I was 5 or 6 and I remember vividly how i would dance in front of the TV when the video came on. I would get snapped on for blocking the tv from everyone else…. Back in the day!

I cannot for the life of me understand why LL didnt get rock and roll hall of fame on his 1st try. He is hip hop royalty. Legend , GOAT, and still performs better than 99.9% of rappers. His stage performance is like nothing ive seen before. His passion for Hip Hop is still there. Its like he is still perfecting his craft. This man has been in the game since 1984 ! He is the MJ of rap. The Best to ever do it ! GOAT in a lane all by himself. He left it all on the stage!
