Lloyd Cole is not only music. It's the perfection in music, like "haute couture"...😄

I get your point, and I agree, but I can't say that I want to listen to, e.g., "Wild Mushrooms" every day. :)

It’s funny how a particular piece of music can stay with you, I will always remember this track. I was 16 yrs old and the coolest kid in school lent me the album cassette from the hip was on. I had saved for an age to get a Walkman and prior to that you never really heard music properly. Lloyd’s voice coming through the headphones with the sun beating down and not a care in the world made a big impression. I saw him live some years later and he still had it, the line up included Lou Reeds guitarist, Robert Quine, if anyone remembers that tour , and they put on a great show together.

love this song 2..quick question though...did 'dire straights' steal the guitar riff from this for their song 'so far away from me'???!!!....just curious :)
@daddoesstuff1239 жыл бұрын
Peta Goodsir Hi Peta, From the Hip is taken from the album Mainstream released in 1987. So Far Away From Me by Dire Straits was released in 1985 so I don't think they could have stolen the riff.

What's this about? What should have been Whipped out of him?
@hastekulvaati96812 жыл бұрын
I think it’s about his nature. He is a pain in the ass to be with. His stubbornness, cruelty or selfishness should have been ‘whipped out’ of him as a child. He should have had a family life that instilled in him better values. As the ultimate manifestation of his selfishness he blame his childhood for the way he treats other people in his adult life. When questioned about his conduct he simply replies ‘it’s a wicked world’ as if he has no agency to be a better friend/lover.
