I didn’t see you check the three microswitches near the camgear, there could be an intermittent contact in them then the module doesn’t know what the position of the camgear is, and it generates a fault code. These microswitches look very similar to the ones in an audi a6 steering lock module, these go bad and the lock module generates a fault code inhibiting the steering lock to disengage and thus the whole car not starting. Also any signs of water damage around the microprocessor of the camera module should be thoroughly cleaned especially around the crystal, that a very high impedance circuit and thus very sensitive to traces of water damage, if the crystal stops oscillating then microprocessor stops working, and of course no camera action

I have checked. You can get whole module camera plus motor for 120-135£ in poland but the rubber is also broken on them so no warranty. Also have you search bmw f06 f12 f13 ? Camera should be the same

I'm a tester it's nothing to do with an mot. It's not a safety item as you have a rear window you can turn your head and look out of.

I'm sorry but the car's owner is being complete jerk about fixing this car. when one buys a BMW they must expect expensive parts and labor to fix those silly things. If they don't want to spend the money on making their car right, then perhaps they should just sell it and just buy a Ford.or Vauxhall.
