I've been using it in my 240k suburban for 3 weeks . I first noticed the improved throttle response . It leads me to believe that the truck may even be in V4 sometimes when it's not displayed on the dash . Better shifting, and the transmission seem to kick down less when accelerating at high speeds. Also ,before I was getting rough idling on cold starts which would last for the first 30 Mins of driving and now it's gone . I don't know if that has anything to do with the range , but my guess is that some of that carbon build up in those unused cylinders may be burning away? 🤷🏾♂️ Update: the range definitely smoothed things out , however I believe the damage was already done . I got a severe misfire, knocking/cylinder failure . I ended up replacing the motor with a used one with 68k . The mechanic put some garbage cam2 brand oil in there and I didn't really like the way the engine ran so I gave royal purple a try and I definitely saw an improvement. New motor seems to be running strong with royal purple and the range 🤞🏽

Have it on my 2012 Tahoe, great item considering all the problems that the AFM can lead to. Over a year of use not one issue, fuel economy dropped about one mile per gallon no biggie!!!

I got the same Range chip for my 2014.. The only drawback, which is not a big deal, is I have to take it out and let the truck run at least 50 miles before I do my annual state inspection (Texas). If I leave it and take it out on at the time of inspection, the inspection computer will throw a "Cannot read vehicle computer" and the inspector will deny a pass.

Was at my local Chevy dealer today talking with the owner and sales manager. As far as they know, the engines will still have the AFM hardware (e.g. those miserable AFM lifters, etc.). They'll just always be in eight cylinder mode all the time due to no AFM "chip" being installed. Too bad the 5.3 and 6.2 couldn't have "normal" lifters like the 2007 Classic and older.

The Main reason why I use it on my Chev Camaro SS is the L99 engines have Lifter issues , thanks to the AFM system , with that device , it helps on wear and tear on said Lifters

@Dan Barksey You can mod, and tune your vehicle, and still keep your warranty. Let's say something does go wrong, and you take it in for the dealership to fix it, and they see that you have headers full exhaust, tune..... whatever, and they say your warranty has been voided do to the mods, so we won't cover the cost. Wrong they have to prove without a doubt that the tune was the cause of the problem, prove that the headers/full exhaust was the cause of the problem. If they can't prove it...your warranty is still valid, and the work must be covered under the warranty. They tried that shit with a buddy of mine, and he called them out on it.. They covered all work, and his warranty was still valid.

I bought my 2013 silverado with 40k miles installed the range device and left it in all the time, at 90k miles i had a lifter collapse in cylinder 1 and cost a fortune to fix, i really thought this device would help prevent gm lifter failure but the only way to really fix it is do the full afm delete kit!

I’ve noticed my family and friends who have the range finder on a level or lift kit with 33” tires all found themselves to get improved gas mileage. All 2007-2013 trucks, 5.3 with 190k+ miles averaging 17 highway. I have same body style, 170k miles, leveled with 33x12.5 only get about 14.7 grandpa driving the highway.. looking to order one and let it help dictate my next wheel set up.

I had one in my 2014 GMC which I bought used in 2018. w/35k After purchasing I heard about the Range disabler. Bought the device and used it till few weeks ago when a traded in the GMC. Because of a bad rusted frame. Not surface rust, holes 🕳️ in the frame. Anyway that GMC burned O oil. Miles at trade in was 113k. Btw sometimes I’d run the AFM for long trips. CHANGE your oil religiously very important. JMO

I bought a 2016 Silverado 5.3 over a month ago. For a while I thought I had engine problems. After figuring it out I purchased a range and plugged it in. Drove 50 plus miles and the 6 speed shifts smooth into every gear. Never goes into V4.

I've had this in my Sierra/6.2 for a almost a year now and it started throwing the same check engine code. I didn't know about this video so I ended up taking it to the dealership and they replaced my TCM and it still caused the same code after the repair. That's when I found out about this, contacted range and they reprogramed mine, did the same thing. Ended up sending me 2 more units and still the same thing, then we just upgraded to the Pulsar LT. Waiting on it to arrive as of now.

Thanks for the video! I work in the fields and drive a 2018 Silverado alt 4x4. First thing I noticed was the transmission clunking. Truck has 50k. Had 40 when I purchased. I bought the range to stop my transmission clunking! Seems to have stopped it from clunking on the up shift, I’ve noticed on the downshift when I’m cruising the lease roads, it still clunks on the final down shift. I hate the transmission. I love the red truck and the 5 percent tint all the way around. But I’m scared for the transmission!!!!!! Range really really really helped the transmission on the up shift and overall truck drives way way way way better. It’s funny you mentioned that it basically tells the truck that there’s a load constantly, I noticed hauling trailers that my transmission shifts very very smooth. Good video!
