You should make a video on how to organize a LAN party (not huge, normal size) and which games and programs to use, how to set it up etc. It would be really cool, and maybe help revitalize the space

@rivox1009 Жыл бұрын
@@wing0zero I know. I've organized a few, just a handful of people, and it's still a nightmare. Sometimes the game doesn't run right, sometimes there are driver issues, sometimes it's a connection issue, a network card setup issue etc If he organizes them regularly, even with "less tech savvy" people, then he must have some tech tips 😉 on how to run everything smoothly in the least amount of time possible.

I thought LAN party etiquette meant bringing a 12 pack of beverage you and the host are okay with (alcoholic or not, depending on age + if the host is okay with alcohol), and then completely forgetting about it.

I remember doing that back in high school about 15 or so years ago it was awesome. One mate had a mario kart game and we would all meet up at the school library at recess and lunch to play against each other. I also had that cod 4 ds game at the time which also allowed people to join you.

Back when I hosted LAN parties, we generally had success with people being cool. Occasionally someone would get invited that was just a bag of dicks. I remember one guy that kept insisting that his system host the game, for some reason, even though it was inferior to the system that we were using to host. He was just annoying as shit and never got invited back. Another time everyone had agreed to "no Zerg rushes" playing Starcraft. Yet one dude I had invited from work decided he wasn't going to do that and immediately took someone out with a Zerg rush. He also said he was going to bring some snack, and didn't. I also had to pick him up despite the fact that he had a car, and no reason he couldn't have driven himself. He never got invited back either. I wouldn't have excluded him had he just been upfront and said he didn't agree... fine, but people weren't playing expecting a rush, because everyone agreed.

After visiting Mexico and being reminded what Doritos used to taste like (completely coated chips, a little spicy), it always surprises me when anyone eats them in NA. So bland and flavorless, they changed them to accomodate American bland paillettes, and did the same in Canada. It's so disappointing. Cool ranch is even worse, tastes like absolutely nothing here.

Luke and I had the exact same reaction playing Pico Park. I got to a point where I had to leave the game and the voice chat because it was a simple level but no one was taking the time to do it properly. Pico Park is kind of like the Monopoly of video games, if you have the right people in the right mood it can be a great time, but if you don't it can ruin friendships.

Would love to go to a LAN again now with all the multiplayer games that have came out in like 13 years.

I held my 1st LAN earlier this year (i have never attended one so i hosted one) So i went and questioned everyone and got a list of games to predownload to play. They ended up only playing league and sea of thefs all games that I dislike. I also ended up cooking all day for everyone and no one brought anything. I dont think im going to host one ever again after that.

Reminds me of when people didn't want to play a local card game "Prší" (a variation of Mau-Mau) because I kept track of where good cards are in the pack during the game and which player has them currently. I also remembered how many cards of each suit were thrown and thus estimate the likeliness of my opponent having a card of that suit in a low card count situation. Therefore I could choose suits which would not match their carda more often that yes and also avoid danger of cards with special effects being played against me which gave me >50% win rate in a game of 4 players where 1 player wins.

Unless you're referring to a segment where I zoned out and didn't notice, I think they were talking about a physical game called Super Chexx. Luke and Linus seem to play it regularly after the WAN Show each week. For those of us across the pond like me, it seems to be an ice-hockey equivalent to table football (different mechanisms but somewhat similar idea)
