Talking about mileage, granted mine is an older LBZ but I did an EGR delete, straight pipe exhaust, and a EFI live tune. Unbelievable the power it has for an older Duramax and even with my lead foot I’m getting better mileage than when I pampered it before.

I have a 18 Denali L5P and loved this video! I could not imagine doing all of that work or paying the $$ for parts. So far I've done minor stuff i.e., leveled, intake & turbo pipe, morimoto's, Banks 4" dpf-back, low profile tool box, stock tires/wheels, etc., plus a Pedal Commander which has made throttle responsiveness much more fun. So, I guess I'll stay at the kids table for now, but it still was an awesome video! Wonder if Banks will watch this and comment...

Damn, I would do the same but it would not pass the Cal smog. However I just put the Banks Ram cold air intake, the Derringer and the monster PDF back 5" pipe and that made a world of difference. It 1000% voids your warranty. Dont do it till its got some miles. Im a chevy guy so im not here to trash them but ive had multiple friends with l5ps that have had a number of issues so far. Injector failure is starting to common, they short out and then take out the injector drivers in the ecu. Trust me you dont want to have to float that bill on your own. You can check into what im talking about on the l5p forums im not just talking out my ass.

Yeah after I get away from my loan on my new car. Idk if I’ll drive it ‘till the warranty expires but there is way too much over engineering in new vehicles that will cost a fortune is maintainence as they age. When I was selling these trucks, we had a hot-shotter that would come in every year and a half, and trade his for a truck identical to the one from the year before. He had been doing this for decades. The last one he traded in when I was still working there was a 2015-2016 with 225k miles. He said all he did was a maintenance, and never had a single breakdown. According to Global Connect (Essentially GM's back office for customer records), it was true. Regular maintenance was the only thing done on that truck. Still ran strong too.

I will say though, for the most part, they have been good on catalytic converters. Many diesel racers, including Bank's Power, have proved Diesel do better without being tuned to roll coal, and you can get them to blow almost as little smoke as a gas engine (Visual-wise). You are right about all the stupid emissions, but I have seen enough of these trucks traded in from the big three to know these new trucks (especially the deleted ones) are no joke when it comes to reliability (And power). I was super bias towards old diesel trucks before I started selling them and getting hands-on experience with them. I won't even get into how many miles I have seen from 10-year-old diesels from the big three, because you won't believe it.

I believe the epa had decent intentions when Nixon started it but now its just a ridiculous amount of regulations. We need to cut down on emissions stuff but I don’t think dpf/def/egr are the right way of doing it. It’s such minuscule changes and so expensive for the consumer it’s not worth it. There are better ways to cut down on global emissions if you want to. Like getting a lot of the Asian countries to cut down they’re the worst when it comes to polluting. My buddy and I did it at his shop. Took a day to tear down and a day to put it back together. Make sure you tune the new ECU before you take everything apart. If you don’t you with throw permanent codes and they are a pain in the ass to get rid of. PPEI tuning is the way to go.

Fuel mileage lol, let me tell you that the guy who has the 75k for the truck and 15k for the mods , lift kit , wide tires and voids the warranty on a brand new truck .... then runs on the street with off road deletes . Something tells me they don’t care about the fuel mileage one bit...just sayin

It's an added benefit. You can do all that and still get 18mpg. If you gotta have a lifted truck, itll work out the best with a diesel if you're gonna drive it daily. I get 16-17 with my duramax driving to work everyday. I cant afford two vehicles, I need a truck for daily life, and I get okay mileage for what it is. New dodge 2500 hemis are only getting like 12-14 mpg... stock. And I get 17mpg on a 5 inch lift with 35 inch tires.

The entire EGR system can be removed as an assembly in about an hour.....done it several times. L5P is the simplest and easiest Duramax to work on.

Lol you need to watch Gale Banks break an L5P. You'll learn alot about these engines. They're great strong engines stock but that factory turbo gets maxed out easily plus he shows fuel system upgrades that are available right now. Including lift pump and injectors.

after driving them both deleted yes the L5P is faster but which is better and if your looking into price wise and to save money i would go with an LML because it was not a huge diff but you did feel the diff, but your gonna pay to delete an L5P

Can someone please tell me how you don’t get caught deleting the stuff? I’m looking at buying a L5P And would love to delete the EGR equipment but I’m worried about being caught when I have to take it in for emissions here in Texas.
