GH 2/6/2023 | Laura pleads with Spencer 2/2

Laura has always favored Nikolas. They just had a stronger bond than the rest. You can see her getting agitated with Spencer. They both need to be understanding. Laura needs to respect Spencer's feelings/boundaries and Spencer needs to understand that parents, especially mothers', don't ever give up on their children. 💙💙

I'm seriously irritated that Laura, who I absolutely love, keeps stating how inexperienced Spencer would be in raising his sibling, but in glaring ridiculousness keeps sidestepping the fact that the baby mama is Spencer's age and got knocked up by someone 2x her age and is equally inexperienced. Plus as we all know the amnesiac very much wanted Spencer to be the baby daddy.

The writing around Laura has had me side eyeing her since I started watching again a little over a year ago. Her providing coverage to Esme before/during the revenge porn, not to mention her defending her now, even though she knows the destruction she’s caused. And now her pacifying Nikolas at every turn. I get that she has guilt over not raising Nik, but her expecting Spencer to do the heavy lifting in his father/son relationship is too much. She’s constantly downplaying his feelings and asking him to be the bigger person, even though he’s the child in this relationship….

@@nfgc86 Trust and believe, you are not the only one feeling that way. The crazy thing is that for all the youth and inexperience they throw in Spencer's face, they put a lot of emotional baggage on him. I think they forget that he's the son until it's something they can weaponize against him.

@@nfgc86 she used to pull the same crap with young Nik back in the day. When Luke was being cruel and abusive toward him she put it on Nik, a then teenager, to fix things and be understanding. She even abandoned him again to appease Luke/Lucky. She likes to downplay and wants everyone to get along. She is a wonderful character, but that is her one flaw!

@@KeshaSA Exactly. He’s an immature, impulsive young man, but they expect him to be emotionally mature when it fits them. Laura wants to have it both ways and that’s not fair to Spencer or Nikolas. Her dismissiveness around Esme’s pregnancy has to be difficult for Spencer and I hope they let NAC play that beat. Her effort to help Nikolas could compromise her relationship with Spencer and I’d hate to see that.

@@nfgc86 That's very possible, but you know Spencer. When it comes to his grandmother that's his constant. He might give her more grace because he really loves her. I just hated that her immediate reaction was done off screen. What a disservice to the characters and we the audience. That's the drag I wanted to see.

It is absolutely unforgivable what they have done to Nicholas’s character and his relationship with Spencer. Rewatching little clips from when Spencer was a child is making me very upset. Those 2 should not be here😪😪

I have a crazy theory that the Dikolas that we've all been watching and being so disappointed in is not the real Nikolas. I think it might be his doppelganger Connor Bishop. And, an added plus is that Rosemary's baby won't be a Cassadine. I mean Nikolas has done some crazy ish in the past, but these past few years have been way over the top, even for him.

Laura is in denial. Nicholas is a horrible parent. She has favored Nicholas over all of her children forever. At least Spencer wants to do better than Nicholas but she continues to condemn Spencer at every turn like he was the one at fault..... Spencer feels bad he's hurting Laura but he knows he's doing the right thing

Because Nikolas wasn't always THIS bad and he wasn't always a terrible parent either......at least not by soap standards, which I know isn't a high bar. He was always internally conflicted and had a tendency to be self-destructive , but nothing on this level. The day gh had him kill a woman(Hayden) was the day he officially spiraled onto the level of heinous. It's really sad to see how far this once beloved character has fallen. As someone else pointed out in the comments, they both need to be understanding. Laura needs to back off Spencer and Spencer needs to accept that Laura is a parent and you don't give up on your kids.

I had to chuckle at the tutorial mention, but like I've said before, ain't nobody in PC raising their kids. They hand them off to Pilar or another nanny and go about their business. At least Spencer would attempt to be hands on, so there's that. However I still don't necessarily believe there will be a baby, and if by chance there is, it won't be a Cassadine, but the Dikolas imposter Conner Bishops. Just my wild speculation.

GF tugs your heart. Laura will always feel guilt.☹ She made her mistakes with Nikolas too and even faked her own death at one point. She's not responsible, but I get why as a mama she feels helpless. They always eluded over the years to Nik having a dark and very isolated childhood, and being a pawn between Stefan and Helena.

She is such an amazing actress. But what I don’t like is trying to force a relationship when it’s so clearly shouldn’t be. And the problem is nikolas. Spencer isn’t perfect never said he was. But he has let down spencer at every turn. Even when spencer was resistant he still made a effort of even a minute one. Spencer doesn’t owe nikolas or Laura anything actually.

@@nicolemaron5740 yes, that is one of Laura's rare flaws. She did the same thing with young Nik back in the day, when Luke and Lucky were horrible to him. She is one of those mothers who wants everyone to get along. I do think Spencer and Nikolas will eventually get back to an okay place, but that'll take time and work.

Spencer loves his grandmother, the way he was rubbing her back trying to calm her....aww. However, Spencer stand your ground against your father Nik cause he is just trash. I still do not want him to win custody of that baby though. The writers cannot think of having such a dynamic character stuck with a baby can they? Plus my Trina does not need to be raising no devil spawn baby. But I am here for the possible MOC to try and gain custody though.😀

Ahhh...I see. I was wondering why Laura is sooo pro-Nikolas despite knowing SOME of her son's misdeeds(to put it lightly). The maternal guilt from abandoning him at a young age is consuming her. That last line @2:52 says it all. Now I like Mayor Collins, but... I'm not sure what she thinks she'll accomplish by placing the onus on her 19/20? year-old grandson to repair a shit storm (pardon my French) relationship w/ his sewer rat father thereby relieving Nikolas of all accountability. Laura needs to understand that she can't raise a grown ass man. Nikolas has made piss poor decision after piss poor decision at the expense of the people he claims to care about the most, but he gone learn today☺

She knows that intellectually; but she still feels an incredible amount of guilt for abandoning her son. The best thing to do would've been to take Nikolas with her when she fled Cassadine Island; but Luke never would've accepted him (I can's stand Luke).

@@drtslimThis is not Luke fault but Laura. This question was already answer by Laura in the 90's . Luke would have kidnap baby Nik on Cassidine Island for Laura if he knew about him but Laura kept quiet to keep Luke safe/ alive from Cassidines .

@@misshelloareyouthere Idk if it's just the guilt, they just genuinely had a special connection. And a lot of that had to do with TC/GF's on screen chemistry as mother and son. It was easy as a viewer be invested in them. TC also had great fam chemistry with SN too. As for Luke, judging by his words and actions toward both Laura and Nikolas, it's hard for me to believe that he would've helped raise him. He was incredibly cruel and insensitive during this time. Dude was so happy when Lucky knocked him down the stairs and he was out cold. There was also the episode where he tried to frame him with drugs and get him deported. The only scene where Luke actually wasn't a butt was when Nikolas was shot outside his club and he held his hand in the ambulance.

One of the many things that I love about Laura is that she is fiercely loyal to her children and grandchildren. She'll do whatever she can to help them. She's always carried that guilt of abandoning Nikolas twice- first when he was a baby and second when she and Luke faked her death back in the 1990s. She still carries that guilt today.
