LMS Jubilee Class 45596 'Bahamas' makes her first public services at Peak Rail, staring at the railway's 1940s Weekend event. 45596 is visiting the line throughout July and August, having arrived at Matlock from Keighley in the early hours of Thursday morning. This marked the first time a Jubilee had run the line to Matlock since 1967. At that time, the route continued beyond Matlock and Rowsley to Buxton and Manchester, seeing express passenger services to the North West via the Midland Mainline.
45596 was joined by Hudswell Clarke 0-4-0ST No.750 'Waleswood', built in 1906 for the Skinner and Holford’s Waleswood Colliery and Coking Plant in South Yorkshire. Services passed at Darley Dale station, where re-enactments took place on the platform, with passengers being evacuated from the station, following a fire resulting from a hit by an incendiary bomb.
