In my opinion Carica is one of the best strikers in history, I wanted him to play in the 94 World Cup, what he did with Maradona in Naples cannot be forgotten.

In '94 at least they had Ronaldo in their brazilian squad as a secret weapon that was never used but he was there waiting for the moment to happen. In 1990, Romario was recovering from an injury and Bebeto was surprisingly wasn't used in that tournament.

@@Trancymind Bebeto did feature briefly in 1990. He came on as a sub in the 2nd group game against Costa Rica but was also carrying an injury and re-injured himself, so didn't play again after that game. In 1990, Brazil had Careca, Romario, Bebeto and Muller which was ridiculous. Careca's injury in 1989 opened the door for Romario to come into the Copa America '89 squad and Bebeto and Romario were a revelation in that tournament (although they had already shown they were a great dupla before, but manager Lazaroni wasn't that keen on Romario). Bebeto and Romario were then the starting forwards in WC qualifying until Romario's injury and Careca and Bebeto became the starters and they were magic together. Careca ended up as Brazil's top scorer in WC qualifying despite missing a bunch of games. When Bebeto got injured, Lazaroni tried to recreate the Sao Paulo FC and World Cup 86 dupla of Careca and Muller. He also staed that he wanted a bigger more physical side. But it didn't quite work as well as in the past. Brazil probably would have won the World Cup with a fit Bebeto and Romario. In hindsight, Bebeto was the perfect partner for both. You needed either Careca and Bebeto, or Romario and Bebeto. In the end, the latter got it done in 94.

@@besimsala20 Careca was my favorite...and I really wish he got to win a WC withe 1994 team. But he had his chances in his prime in 86 and 90, so it's probably not fair to say he would have scored in extra time 94...because the counter argument would be, why didn't he in 1990 then, when Brazil dominated Argentina and Careca and Muller had chance after chance and didn't score? Careca was class, but you can't deny that Bebeto and Romario deserve their status. They won Copa America 89 and WC 94...Brazil had not won anything since 1970 before those two. Careca was maybe unlucky because he was the man in 1986 AND he was actually going to be the starting striker in 1982...and then got injured a few weeks before the tournament. Imagining Careca in the 1982 team makes you wonder.....

Sweden had a good team then, but unlucky. Lost all group games by the same score. At the next tournament in the United States, Sweden proved that the results in Italy were an accident. If I recall, Scotland qualified for that tournament from a group with France. Costa Rica had an exceptional performance, defeating Scotland and Sweden. Careca and Brohlin were phenomenal players. I feel sorry for Careca that he didn't have a better generation of Brazil. Caniggia's goal that eliminated Brazil in the Round of 16 is somewhat similar to Careca's first goal in this match.

I liked this Swedish side. To be honest Sweden in 1990 was potentially a top class national team, no worse than four years later when they achieved fourth place. Please explain me how did not they get any points? Why Strömberg was a reserve player? He was better than Thern, Ingesson or Schwarz. Still was the best player of Sweden when he played. I just cant understand..

And despite being placed in a very easy group with cCosta Rica and Scotland, two of the weakest teams of the 1990 world cup and one of the worst Brazilian teams that has ever entered a world cup Sweden lost all their matches. @@AldellezCaputto70 Brazil was better than Argentina, but it was still one of the worst Brazilian teams to have entered a world cup. And remember that Argentina only scored 5 goals in 7 games at that world cup so despite reaching the final Argentina was really not a very impressive teams, they did defend well, but I think most people out of Argentina agree that they did not deserve to win the world cup and that it was a good thing (for football) that they lost the final.

@@shahrulamar5358 That is true. Brazil and Sweden have met quite often than most people think in the world cup. I know in 1978 they played against each other as well. In 1938 they played against each other as well. I believe Brazil vs Sweden have the world cup record for the most total matches played among the two nations playing against each other.

Sehe es ähnlich! Brasilien hat vom Abschneiden bei der WM 1982 gelernt und ihren "Samba"- Fussball förmlich eingestellt und ihr System verändert. Den Offensiv-Fussball, den die Brasilianer 1982 bis zum unglücklichen Ausscheiden gegen Italien zeigten, brachte ihnen nicht mehr den gewünschten Erfolg! Sie fingen dann an europäisch zu spielen und legten daraufhin mehr Wert auf die Defensive. Nur das System lag den Brasilianern nicht! 1994 wurde dann wieder verstärkt auf die Offensive gesetzt und das wurde schließlich mit dem Titel belohnt!
