A bit of a Brucie Bonus tonight, as we catch the World's Most Famous Steam Locomotive, LNER A3 60103 'Flying Scotsman' passing through Manchester Victoria on a light engine move from York National Railway Museum to the East Lancashire Railway.
'Scottie' had worked her way up to York having hauled the first day and a half of the Railway Touring Company's "Great Britain XI" tour in glorious sunshine. Day one featured her single-handedly taking the tour from Kings Cross to Scarborough via Lincoln- some 240 miles, all told- before talking the first 40 miles or so of day two as far as York, where 35018 'British India Line' took over. As a side note, some of the footage of the tour from KZbinrs has been outstanding, so a big shoutout to you all for your hard work.
Even in the pitch dark, she makes for a lovely sight, and good to see they've finally done something about that whistle! After a brief pause she was off again, passing through East Junction and up Miles Platting. Unfortunately I made a complete pig's ear of the departure shot! Thankfully, my wife Gail was filming from the other side, so I've used her pictures instead. Thanks, sweetheart! 👍🏻
Hope you enjoy the video.
Cheers
Ross.
