Great shots of 60009 Ross and what a great servant to the railways this A4 has been for many decades. A real favourite that will be sadly missed.

allan5919 she has indeed been a great servant. Can’t think of too many steam locos that have done as many miles in preservation as No 9 (FS maybe?).

back in the good old days I to used to see a lot of her passing St Margarets loco shed(64A) and Haymarket(64B) in Edinburgh,she has been a real star always acknowleging those who come out to see her which is a great credit to her crew.It is a sad day for us old yins but I thought someone mentioned that she was doing something in Scotland,let's hope so.Thanks for the terrific video you had me going in the end

Should utilise, modernise, and enlarge all GMP rail. Duel purpose like it's integration from and into the metro was; is and will continue he until comprehensive cover for most major towns borough and cities in the while Metropolitan area. Why not inter grate a Merseyside /Liverpool metro system using same technique and have liverpool_mancs tram?
@30453trains4 жыл бұрын
geoff edwards easier said than done, I’m afraid. The trouble with Manchester is, unlike Merseyside, there’s very few self-contained purely ‘local’ rail routes left to be incorporated into Metrolink Almost everything that remains as conventional rail has to interwork with long distance services, so can’t just be converted to metro/light rail. Even if inter-operability between Metrolink and heavy rail were possible, there’s not too many places it can work- take the Bolton line for example: you can’t run a 10-15 minute frequency all shacks metro service on that line because of all the long distance services that use it that would be tripped up by it. Same with the routes to Warrington. The only two extant railway lines that such a move might be feasible is the Atherton line and the Rose Hill line. But in both cases, you can quickly see why they’re proper rail routes when you take a closer look. In the case of the Atherton line, where do you put the Southport trains? As already stated there’s no room via Bolton and you’d be relying on Merseyrail extending through to Wigan to maintain through services on the Kirkby line (and the local GM authorities being ok with a Merseyside concession operating on their patch- good luck with that!) Metrolink expansion should definitely happen- but I would say there’s very little reason for it to take any more of Manchester’s extant Rail network.

Mark 5 coaches on the TPE!!!! Best interior design, most spacious, most comfortable of all British railway lines!!! I love it! I only wish they would electrify and then use class 88 (same loco but the electric version).

since I herd an engine of one of those ferocious sounding beasts ive practically love thme then the 185 desiros and just the sound of the engines when they rev up and excelerate off I saw 68029 Resolution in leeds witch sounded brutal think they have 16 cylinder caterpillar engines in them not sure liked and subed
@30453trains4 жыл бұрын
Harry McAndrew you’re quite right, according to my trusty Platform 5 book, the prime mover is a Caterpillar C175 16 cyl engine, with 3,750 bhp and 72,260 lbs of reactive effort on tap. But as you say, the main thing is the glorious noise they make. Thanks for commenting. Subbed.
