Late 80s early 90s I was a paratrooper stationed in Vicenza, assigned to a recon platoon. LBE is definitely the way to go for fast and light. The H-harness was the preferred configuration, with a butt pack (ours were smaller than yours) where we kept snivel gear, food, and shelter). Two canteens, two ammo pouches, with an extra ammo pouch for admin, bayonet and we were good to go. We also had the large Alice pack. Most bomb proof pack ever. Also, we would wear BDU top untucked for increased airflow. Made a big difference.

Back in the day we replaced the butt pack or kidney pouches with water bottle pouches or utility pouches. It gave a lower profile so no big butt pack bouncing on the run. A basha/poncho rolled up with cords fit in one, 24hr food stripped down in one, ifak+trauma kit in one, and one left for personal preference. Replace the right side mag pouches with a commanders pouch gives duel capability to carry administrative paperwork or extra ammo be it link or mag. Stitch on elastic to pouches to place natural vegetation as camouflage to break up shape while moving through different environments. I see to many videos where personal camouflage is not applied or even spoken about.

Great topic, presentation, and video as usual. Fins often attached a dry bag to carry more personal kit during the winter, horizontally above the buttpack attached to the suspenders. Instead of a small backpack. You’ve seen my LBE, I can carry enough sustainment items also in SAW pouches. Liked and enjoyed the video.

i noticed in bush with lots of blowdown and obstacles; the PLCE webbing is great for rolling your legs and ass over things without slowing down. Also great for 4x4ing uphill and rock climbing because you dont have anything on your upper body impeding your agility. I have no problems jogging or speed walking through dense forest like you said. Also better in alder and rhododendron patches because you can hip check that crap and keep your forward momentum opposed to having it catch on a load bearing vest

Thank you for this Review and teaching! At $5 -$20 on Ebay, ACU FLC/kit are flooding the market! FLC can be made into Buckle-Back style and worn like a chest rig, OR to split FLC into FLC and padded battle belt that is hidden inside it, you pull out battle belt, and can 1. Weave paracord back and forth in the MOLLE slots in the lower inner edges of the back flap, pull to size and secure with one or more cord lockers! OR... 2. Use a pouch you want in the middle and weave like above from each side of the pouch to the flaps in back of the FLC! Everyone has a spare pouch!! Remember, every FLC comes with a free Battle Belt!!! Party On!!!🎉🫡
