Video idea for you I think would be a Hit . NOBODY in f class does videos on form . Maybe a series. One on trigger control, one on recoil , one on cheek weld . Sight picture. You get the idea . You're videos are well done just thought that would cost some views. Take care 🏆 Champ

I like watching these videos. I’d love you to do more videoes showing what load you choose in the end for match day.

Are you shooting at Douglas Ridge?

Maybe i read the results wrong on your first groups, but it seems shot 14 was included in group 2. With that removed, as it should be, that group was TINY.

John, after this experiment, what was exactly wrong with this load? I mean, do you know what was the thing (powder/bullet/case/primer/COAL)in the load that was cause of not to be accurate enough for your standard?

Is it normal to have to keep adjusting further to the right after every shot? Thanks for the video!

thanks for the video - how many rounds on the barrel prior to this video?

about 300

Can you say what the variation in powder charge is? Not the total charge weight but grain difference?

Do you have patreon where people can ask questions directly to you and get answers? Curious as I’m new to precision shooting and have a few questions about load development process. I’d gladly pay the fee to pull at your ear for a sec and learn from your expertise. Thanks for sharing. 😢

hey John, thanks for the video, I have a shot marker, people seem to say the speed data is no accurate, what do you think. I use a Garmin for my testing.

Watched your gun in slowmo that thing is really torquing. Is that good? How fast is your barrel twist?
@FClassJohn6 ай бұрын
It's a 9 twist but the torque you're seeing is because I was testing a new front rest side ear bag.

Yep, every time.

John I’m putting a new barrel on. What is your thought process on when to start load development on a new barrel? Should i send some rounds down it to do some breaking in before gathering data?
@CrashRacknShoot6 ай бұрын
Im positive theres someone to disagree with this, but imo always yes, shoot first, zero later on a freshie. You're never going to get accurate results from your first shots out of a new barrel. Have some fun at the range the first time, sight it onto paper, burn a couple boxes. Then on next outing clean it, foul it, then get to work.

@@CrashRacknShoot thank you very much for your input

@@sstevens7 sure thing, though I'm just some random dude. Make sure to do your research and get some takes from truly good shooters and gunsmiths. The way it was reasoned to me is that there are too many imperfections in a barrel when new. Preserving oils, burrs, salts and rust spots from nitriding, stuff like that. Hell, oil from outside of the chamber seeping into a barrel can throw the shots off, imagine what all the manufacturing leftovers could do to groups.

John, I can't help but notice,when you look into your scope your glasses are not square to your reticle. Have you ever tried a prescription pop on lens cover for your scope? Most quality optometrist stores make them, they just need an old rubber lens cap for a size to make the pop on. I think you would notice a benefit in your scores and your comfort.

It's better to just wear contacts, he still needs his other eye to read the wind flags.

I'm curious how ya'll shoot 284 caliber when the rules are 30 caliber ?
@FClassJohn5 ай бұрын
I'm not sure I understand your question? F-open allows any cartridge up to .34cal. Maybe you meant F-TR which I don't shoot, they only allow .30 and .223

@FClassJohn Gotcha. I didn't pay attention to class. I might have seen up to 30 caliber. I'm a 🤡 🤣. Love your channel, Brother. Sorry, FClass John

Great Video. However, I would not put a lot of faith in the velocities that ShotMarker puts out. I once tested ShotMarker with an Oehler 35P Chronograph right in front of a target at 100 yards. ShotMarker was off by as much as 200 fps and not always consistent.
@FClassJohn6 ай бұрын
Yep I totally agree and that's what I tell people too BUT when it's the only data I had that day because I'm an idiot and forgot to throw up my Garmin then it's what I have. And ultimately the gaps between speeds are probably more accurate than the actual speeds and that's all I wanted to point out.
