Center x is great stuff but, expensive and hard to get! Gonna give CCI Green Tag a try in my Anschutz, my custom 10/22 with a Shaw Barrel loves the Green Tag.

Great shooting! Apologies if I missed the distance (very likely did) but how far were yall shootin?
@FClassJohn4 ай бұрын
Thank you, and I appreciate the kind words. This was all shot at 50 yards, which is the standard distance for these targets. There are other videos of these matches where we shoot at a much longer distance, sometimes up to 300 yards.

Good shooting! However ,it seems from my perspective that the rifle is not in tune at the optimal positive compensating node(very high vertical some times that is hard to believe is just wind, and if so, a 22Lr gun in tune will buck the wind better). I would add a barrel tuner and dial it in. (All the record holders and winners in BR50 in todays world championships is shot with tuners- There is absolutely no reason not to use one). some info: Positive compensation is not very important for Centerfire benchrest/fclass shooting, but in 22Lr benchrest shooting its fundamental to have ,and the first step to achieve a reliable rifle that acts like a 6ppc at 100y. (Turning the tuner only to shrink groups is not positive compensation). Positive compensation is to make all the random bad shots in the lot with different MV, to hit at the same place at the target. in other words making the rifle capable of shooting variable ammunition with good results. a non positive compensating tune that gathers 10 shots in a 4mm hole is worth nothing if it has vertical flyers now and then. Stable not big groups over time is the key, and only achievable by positive compensation. No premium ammunition lot, even mass produced selected Lapua X-Act or Tenex is as good as perfected handloaded centerfire ammunition and will have many variations in the lot. Lower V0 is also a good tip. 1070-1080 is waay to high. aim for 1000-1040 max. alot better wind performance. if you run the numbers , you'd find out that a 1000 fps lapua bullet, will have approx 30% less winddrift than a 1070 Fps. Just my thoughts on the matter. I really like following your 22lr shooting, hoping for some Tuner action next time.

John, try some RWS R50 if you have any. My Vudoo single shot loves the stuff.

I wish someone could design a 22lr centerfire cartridge that utilized a tiny primer. Something that would make for a reloadable ultra-short range precision cartridge in either 22lr or .17 caliber. I understand there are ways to reload 22lr but it's still a smashed rim on the brass, not to mention a pain to get the primer compound consistent. Could you imagine. Or maybe I'm just addicted to reloading and trying to make the best ammo I can, or maybe it's just a pipe dream. 🤔
@JamesS.2544 ай бұрын
I think the primer is the only thing holding these tiny cartridges back, and maybe there needs to be a redesign specifically for these cartridges. Maybe even a primer that seats from inside the brass and the firing pin strikes it trough a hole in the brass, then they could keep the same dimensions on the brass for the uses with existing barrels. 🤔

Then you could produce the same brass with on extra step of making a hole for the firing pin to strike the primer. And yes this would require a miniature centerfire bolt design that simply changes the firing pin to hit center but with the same bolt face. Companies could sell new bolts to existing actions.

OR, companies just need to make primed rimfire brass more available to the public for people who are into making the most accurate ammo possible for their firearm. But a reusable case would be pretty dam cool.
