Loading a 10,000 Pound Engine into a 737 Without a Crane | Ice Airport Alaska | Smithsonian

The Alaska Airlines maintenance team are working to install a $10 million replacement engine into a sidelined 737. To pick the engine up, they install a system of geared chains called ‘bootstraps’-essentially using the weight of the plane and engine for leverage.
