In this video, I demonstrate loading a quilt on the Cutie, using a second pair of side clips. I also explain very carefully what a properly loaded quilt should look and feel like.

You are fabulous to learn from. I needed a good step by step so when i get my cutie frame, I'm going to easily be ready. You remove the unknown parts that make this large purchase worth it. My appreciation is beyond words. Thank you a gazillion-buzillion-quatrillion times over, lol, for all you teach.

Good morning! I am 5 minutes into the video and already learned 2 things about my Cutie Frame! One that Grace Company now sells the ‘clips’ separately! I lost one of my side clips… And, two using a bean bag! Loading a quilt, getting one side (one thinks), sorted only to find it’s moved while doing something else!!! 😂 Thank you for the tips and tricks.

Thank you so much! I've been using my cutie and 15 pro for 2 years. I've been using the side leader and see how much easier it is using the bungee cord. This will be a game changer. ❤❤❤

Love the tip of weight to hold quilt in place until I can get clips on. I will definitely use it. Nothing more annoying than have quilt move before get clips on. Thanks!

While watching your demostration I thought the fabric weights you made to hold your quilt sandwich in place was a super idea and was just wondering size they were. Also, could you explain a little further on how you actural made them?
@quiltingonathread
@quiltingonathread 5 ай бұрын
The weights are about 2"x11". I just took a 5"x12" scrap of cloth, folded it in half lengthwise, added a seam on one end and the long side, filled it with my fill (seed beads, dry rice, beans, etc.), and then closed it up. Remember to keep the fill loose, so that the bag is able to drape over the bars.

Thank you for the great step-by-step for loading the cutie. I'm getting close to having the ability to put my Q'nique 15 Pro on my cutie. I hear some people talking about channel locks. Are these necessary? Purpose of them? For your weights what did you stuff them with? Beans? Rice? I have the leader cloths. I've seen some videos that some people use long pins to pin the quilt to the leader. You used saftey pins. Am I guessing because they're easier?

Hello again. Had to replace an encoder on my Q19 so finally loading a piece on my frame? You have something under your Husky table with thread , etc. Would you please share what it is with me? I am in a 10X10 room with my sewing machine cabinet, a Martelli cutting table and my cutie frame on a Husky table. My wall space is very limited so something like that would be a blessing. Also, do you have a video on getting started on the Q19? I watched the Grace videos but they are terrible. You can’t see any of the actual quilting up close. Thank you for making a new video on the original Cutie frame.

A small amount of my thread is stored in wire desk organization boxes that I have zip tied to the support bar of my Husky Workbench. I don't have a video on getting to know the Q'nique 19... But I will look into doing that!

@@quiltingonathread Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. That is a great idea. Thank you for sharing it. Please make a video on getting started on a Q19. I, like most people am a visual learner. Karla talks about what stitches should and should not look like and shows examples that are three feet away and not clear so it is not helpful. Knowing when to use the different modes would be so helpful. Thank you for thinking about it. I think a video like this would help any beginner long arm quilter on any machine.

Would you please tell me which yellow paper measuring tape you used on your Cutie Frame? I looked on Amazon and there are many versions. I was hesitant in choosing one because it sounded like they were in 12” increments. I am hoping what you used was at least in 1 yard increments. It will save cutting up 2 - 0 center $12 plastic measuring tapes. Thank you

This tape is discussed in a few of my videos. It is unfortunately only in foot increments and tears at each inch. I'm not using it to measure...just as a sight guide. It's called Peel N Stick. I tried to insert a photo in my reply here...but I'm not able to on my phone.

What is the measuring tape used on rails and also the ruler used for placement from back rail?
@quiltingonathread
@quiltingonathread Жыл бұрын
The measuring tape is "Peel N Stick Ruler Tape", I picked it up at Hobby Lobby, but I believe it's available at most fabric stores. The ruler I use at the back is an old teletype ruler that was used to measure character counts ... I don't think you can find them now. But any 2in wide cutting ruler would do.

I assume you are referring to my narrow bag weights thst i used to steady my quilt? I made these using a pound of seed beads in each bag. You can easily use rice or dried beans.
