Thanks! We're learning fast that we have to produce a bunch of content at a time... We see why it's difficult to be currently working in this industry and stay on top of creating content. Appreciate the comment! Working on the Super 8 Production video now!

Midwest Film Co If you want your videos to reach a wider audience i recommend you keep simple titles for each video + thumbnail that makes someone want to click. When people see “ep003” or other title bumpers it may make them think that this is some series they dont have time for. Super simple idea but it can be pretty effective, just a thought EDIT: your thumbnails are perfect for this purpose

Loving this content! Seems like most filmmaking channels rehash the same stuff. it's exciting to learn new some things! I'd love to see more content on the basics of shooting super 8.

DUDE!!! As far as 16mm cameras go it's the cream of the crop! If you're lucky enough to shoot on an ARRI 416 though, that's a pretty amazing experience. The beautiful thing about film cameras is they all take the same Kodak stocks. As long as the registration is great and the camera is running smooth you can get the same look at a bunch of different price points! None of this, new sensor every 6 months bull!!! Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Loving the videos. Question - if you hire out a film camera, do you also hire as many mags as rolls of film (which seems like it would be a lot)? Are the mags always taped off and sent to the lab, or is it common to unload an exposed mag back into the tin at the end of the day (or even during the shoot)? Thanks!
@MidwestFilmCo
@MidwestFilmCo 5 жыл бұрын
Fish Typically the camera will come with a handful of mags. Once the film is exposed you download the film back into the cans and tape them up with the mag report. When you’re watching credits and see “Film Loader” that’s the guy/gal that does this on set! When shooting a bunch of footage you have to have loaders. I cam opt on the Adam Sandler Netflix standup comedy show and we shot 35mm. There were 5 cameras and 5 VERY busy loaders.

Thank you! Question: With the collapsible core, what is the process for unloading the film? Do you send the collapsible core to the lab with the film or swap it out at some point?
@MidwestFilmCo
@MidwestFilmCo 4 жыл бұрын
Remove the collapsible core and send it to the lab without a core - it's not a problem at all for the lab. No need to put a core in its place before sending it out!

Would you cover the blue tape with black once it's exposed, or do you replace it?
@MidwestFilmCo
@MidwestFilmCo 5 жыл бұрын
That's a great question and probably something we should cover on the channel. After the film is exposed it will be "downloaded" back into the film can. This is where the black tape comes in. You'll want to secure the film can with black tape and place the mag report on top of the can. Thanks for reaching out!

Midwest Film Co I see! That makes sense. Probably doesn't need its own episode, but it would be cool to see, maybe at the end of a different loading episode. Keep up the great work!

Check out visualproducts.com. I don't believe they advertise it on the website... hit them up, they can make one for you if you have an old SR battery. $250(ish).

Can you load 100ft film into the SR2? I'm getting one soon and I'd like to use a 100ft as a test roll. Thank you!

Hey guys, sorry another quick question. I just got my SR2 and the seller sent me the batteries even though he thinks they need to be recelled. I left them charging over night and they are driving the camera just fine without the mags but once I put a mag on it it doesn't work. Is this lack of power from the batteries or is this what happens when there's no film in the mags? Thanks!
@MidwestFilmCo
@MidwestFilmCo 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrManelCasanova I've never had the issue before but you it could definitely be a power issue. The camera will drive the mag without film loaded in it. Those NiCad batteries are notorious for dying if the owner isn't keeping a charge on them and using the normally. You can hit up Visual Products and see if they have an AB Gold Mount or V Mount adapter available. That's definitely the way to go! Also, try moving the pin forward with the mag on the camera with the manual movement, the little silver tab by the run switch. Make sure it moving freely and the mag isn't jammed. - Justin
@MrManelCasanova
@MrManelCasanova 3 жыл бұрын
@@MidwestFilmCo hi Justin thank you for your reply! The camera is moving in test mode, it only dies when I put it in the start mode. I think it's probably a power issue, I'll look at those v mount options as I have a few lying around! Thank you
