I’m an equine veterinarian. Friend of mine suckered me into working a herd of bison one winter during slow season for a friend of his. I grew up with beef cattle and my family and I still have cattle so I agreed when I was assured they had good handling facilities. I get there and they actually did have good facilities. However, I left there 2 hours later with nothing accomplished and their facilities destroyed. THAT…is a different animal.

My favorite way to explain handling bison is they will run like thoroughbreds, turn like cutting horses, and have no hesitation to slam into a gate or trailer door as hard as they can

I'm 82 years old and raised cattle for ov 40 years. Any time I was getting one of mine ready to take to the slaughter house I always grained them for 2 months because grain fed taste better than grass. I know that there has been a big sale grass is better for you to the American people while we ship all of the feed lot cattle over seas. But I know and you know the fat is what makes it taste better. Now people are paying for Wagi because it tast better and to get a good steak its what I buy

@@TheBeardedButchers It's interesting to see how the animals are handled before they go thru the system. I'd love to see the entire process the way you do it, from the slaughter to hanging a carcass. Stuff like this brings back memories of my childhood, when a local businessman helped everyone harvest their farm animals, and when hunters harvested deer. Found out many years later that they got shut down for not having a license. His business closed not long after that.

Bison never existed in Australia natively, they were only in North America and northern Eurasia. Nor were cattle, those were introduced by English settlers and honestly the ones that went wild are doing significant damage to the environment as the plant life there never had large grazing herbivores like them.
