Thanks so much for this! You walked me through loading my film. I just bought this camera because I loved the look of it. Thanks for the info about the FB group. I’m going to look that up.

That, my friend, is exactly what I needed! I was perplexed by the shot count set/reset...and you explained it perfectly. My camera arrived today..I'll post on your vid about ethics a little later. This channel is an inspiration!

Love the internet, you can find the manuals for anything. Reminds me of my first camera, an already old Waltz electric.

I ended up purchasing one of these cameras after looking at your flickr pictures and watching your videos on this specific camera. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot any film with it yet but I can't wait. I think I have an older version because it doesn't have the typical people and mountain figures in the front. Thanks so much.

Good video, When I got my Retina lll a while ago I was surprised at the quality of the build of these cameras. I just find the winder on the bottom a little awkward but otherwise great little cameras.

Nice intro. I have one of these and it is a nifty little camera. Watch out for the back release button. It is easily bumped (don't ask how many rolls). I put a large fender washer on it with a Black Rapid strap eye-screw.

Yes, I was a bit concerned about placement of that control. Thanks for the heads up!

One thing you have be careful is not to advance the film lever forcefully, like you can on a Nikon F2. I have a Retina lllc and a lllC rebuilt by a older camera tech who loved Retinas. These German Kodaks are great little cameras but in typical German fashion they are over engineered with many tiny precision parts. When you find these camera the film advance is often broken due to people trying to force one more shot out of the roll. I believe the Retinette were made at a more affordable price point as the Retinas were very expensive. They later moved the line to America and produced cheap cameras that were poor in comparison. Brian if you enjoy your Retinette you should look for a Retina in good shape if you have good eye a small c is fine if not the big C model is best. The lenses are very sharp but still has that old school look, the small c model easily slips into a front pocket.

The retinette is my first vintage style camera so I'm not too knowledgeable as of yet! Quick question, I only had a roll of film with 24 exposures, how do I put this into the exposure counter if there are no diamonds to line it up to!

There is oil on the shutter blades, right? Won't that affect operation?
