Crimping brass wears it out faster. Load it shorter and put a top card over it and glue it in place with waterglass.

I think a flare cap might be the ticket for my forming of 1/2" copper caps into full metal jacket slugs-just finished my anvils but found my female dies insufficient-I bet a 3/4" flare cap will be perfect.Doing .729 in H+R ultra slug,120 grains BP.

Austin. I have a 12ga and a 20ga set up with sights. I have used ruger M77 rear sight base and filed the notch to fit over rid.on the 20ga. You can load 20ga the same as the 12ga. Just get a smaller acorn nut..I have another video on this about powders and loading. Check it out. Some good information in there. Thanks for your comment

So..1 year later...i'm still making slugs, just ordered me some new molds :) Started out last year...this video made my interest grow. I have Magtech brass shells these days, allthough i'm mostly using them for black powder..wich i discovered is PRETTY FUN aswell..since it goes BOOM, smokes a lot and smells like fart. I watch your videos from time to time, they're very interesting and educational. I also..got me some inserts to one of my 12 gauge..22 lr and 9 mm...goew pew-pew, but still lots of fun

Once fired straight wall hulls(Federal, Estate, fiocchi etc) with a Fed 12S0(not the Claybuster equivalent!) wad are great for Lee keyed slugs. You may need a Nitro card in the wad cup depending on the height of the hull's base wad. Use Just enough Clay's powder for low recoil/ low pressure rounds. Fold crimp as usual.

I used American select ,then unique , tried some with red dot. The red dots seem to work the best. The whole problem with these brass shells is trying to get a good gas seal That is the most important part of it. Also, making sure there is no air space in the case.

Could l use this in my rifled slug gun what you think
@keithhagler502
@keithhagler502 Жыл бұрын
If it's rifled, I'd go with a .735 ball and crimp same way. Would be some leading, but maybe Lee Alox, coated, or maybe even lubed wad. 1 3/8 oz. load data, or to make it simple, holy black. 600 grain ball. I'd keep it around no more than 1250 fps in a regular shotgun frame. True 12-bore double rifles can go higher but they are built heavier. In a light gun that's as far as I would go. That ball or conical and 7 drams used to be the normal workhorse, but in the heavier guns. A 12 with only a 1 oz. slug is like a glass half full.
