I don’t think it is or ever will be only a trend. Locs are a huge commitment. You really gotta be prepared to have the same hairstyle for the rest of your life.

It took me 5 years to finally loc my hair bc I had to ask myself if I was ready. When I finally locd I said I will never go back to loose hair and I still feel the same way. I see so many people combing theirs out perming their hair and getting sew ins. No shade to them. To each its own! Chloe Bailey and this page has definitely shown me locs can be versatile. I’m 3 years in and still loving mine!! Love this video ❤

Locs are just a style for me, honestly. I got them because I was bored with my loose natural hair after 12 years, and I’ve always wanted them. I have noticed lots of people combing out theirs and I can’t say I’ll never comb out mine. But for now I’m happy with them ❤️! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏿!

2 of my fav loc creators combed out their locs tbh but for me it was never about hopping on the trend blah blah sis I had 3 chirren in 3 years it was either locs (extensions specifically) or looking crazy and I wasn’t about to be out here looking crazy 🤣

I never thought but was a trend. But people do change their minds about locs. I had my first set from 2000-2017. Cut them off and began again in 2018 to the present. ❤

Nope, but I do remember hearing it when going natural became more common. You're right, I never hear about relaxers being referred to as a trend, or even weave for that matter.

I think it’s sad that there’s an issue when the masses decide to show up as our most authentic selves, regardless of the reason behind it. This is something that should honestly be celebrated! We’re too busy focusing on the wrong stuff.

I recently got my hair loc'd in January & this is the only style that I've never done as a naturalista. I don't keep up with other ppl 😂 sounds like what happens with other things that ppl use the internet for. Have an amazing week beautiful ladies 🫶🏽

Great points! Re: seasons: I started my locs not intending on a life-long journey. I figured if I get a few years out of it, it would be worth it. I have no plans to return to loose hair but not ruling it out either! Committing for life would have been a lot more of a stressful decision and I probably would have never done it. So glad I did!

I started off with doing loc crochets. I've been want to lock my hair for a while so doing the pandemic I'm going through some life changes I said why not let me lock my hair and add extensions I did it for me and for no one else. In a lot community can be so harsh with people with extensions. And everything you saying is so true. I'm on my third set and like you I took my hair comb mines out 2x and wore loose natural for a while and then I knew I wanted to put them back in so I did. It's my journey and I chose to do what I chose to with it. As always thank you for sharing your point of view 🤓

I started my loc journey bc I had a child and was left by the father and I knew my hair was going to be impossible to maintain with motherhood. I literally got locs bc I didn’t want to do my hair. I became obsessed with locs I watched every loc video I could. My sister has locs so she coached me on how to start mine. I am two years in and people are going crazy over my locs and trying to copy off my locs. Like 3 students at my school started locs bc of mine.

It was a long thought process for me because when deciding on locs,it was a serious commitment,process at least for me to make because I had rheumatoid arthritis and didnt want to do anything with my hair on a daily basis.Realised I didnt like my parting pattern,didnt know what to expect and thought I knew what I wanted but really didn’t.Ive thought about taking them out cause I found out,retwists hurt just like braiding for me,realized I was more tenderheaded,lol.Itll be two years the middle of July that I’ve been loced.🥰
