Wow, great work! I just spent two days straight combing out my hair. I’m just grateful I didn’t have to cut it off, I actually thought I was going to lose over 24 inches of it at LEAST, and the last time I cut it was because I had to for similar reasons. I got (very) bad news, couldn’t work anymore for the time being, and went through three months of hard depression where I wasn’t taking care of myself. I could barely get out of bed, let alone wash and brush out my long ass curly hair. His would be so much harder to maintain than mine, too, way easier for that to happen than what I did. Looks like he just had a while of regrowth without retwists or maintaining. Hope he’s doing good, his hair looks amazing. So glad you were able to save his locs, that’s incredible. I was sad to see them go.

That’s right. She cut out the huge congo that was forming and crocheted the locs she originally cut off back onto the new locs she made. So the only bit of length he lost is the congo that was removed entirely.

Dread locs only grow from the root though, so the reattached dread locs will still get longer it makes no difference really. There might be some strength issues though, I don't think reattached pics would be as strong as loc that weren't cut. But I wouldn't know
