I also saw a sisterlocks loctician recommend compression styles so that the locks have less bunching/swelling ( it was the just audria video with her loctician. )The compression makes the locks form more consistently but it also slows down the locing process.

I get that! That’s probably why it’s taking sooo long for my hair to loc up!

Also saw another video of that cause my hair was frizzing and her locs looks amazing. However, i got lazy so i just use a satin hairband at night. But the braid out really did help with unraveling

i love the braid outs! im not gon tell you to stop doing them either bc im sure eventually theyll loc but the braiding is not only causing the thinning, it’s probably also preventing them from locing. id rec watching dxlyn locs or yannie the locologist since theyll describe it better than i can but the swelling and frizzing is actually the loc process. as the hair expands and contracts around itself, it creates the loc matrix which is how they mature. i think yours can still loc eventually and im a firm believer of “if it aint broke dont fix it” but constantly having them stretched out prevent your strands from being able to tangle up and mat and form a true loc. the “frizzing” and swelling and bunching/budding is part of the locs maturation process so preventing those things = preventing your locs from maturing. spacing the braids out a little bit to like braiding once every other day or every 2 days would give them some space to expand and swell, then recompact in on itself if your goal is to have them mature faster. if the goal is the prevent frizz and easy styling then yeah please disregard! 💞 they look lovely as always!

I think that's the main reason too, the loose hairs at the middle i.e. Mostly where the twist starts from the interlock. Thanks to hand in hair syndrome, I detected so many of those Including unravelling. I undid them n braided or interlocked.

So I understand the thing about condensing your locs. I'm not sure what to do for myself...like I'm about to start my microloc journey but I have fine hair and I would like mine to swell up a little just to have more volume. But I think you said your hair is already thick so you have no problem trying to condense yours so I get it
@soccerchicka1643 жыл бұрын
Don't interlock if you have thin hair. I made that mistake and your hair will not swell. Palm roll if you want them to swell.
@leannewheeler53513 жыл бұрын
2 point rotation is an option. Doesn't condense the hair so much and leaves room for swelling. And the locs will appear a bit thicker.
@JAYoung-cs5xx3 жыл бұрын
If you don't have tough hair, palm rolling microlocs ca lead to a lot of issues down the line. Interlocking gives a lot stronger foundation for microlocs. The unapologetic happy life does a great video on two different types of 3 pt rotation, which provides more room for swelling. Some people have more issues with holes when using 2pt
@soccerchicka1643 жыл бұрын
@@JAYoung-cs5xx I was doing 2 point rotations and definitely have issues with holes! So, I can attest to this. I also agree with not palm rolling microlocs. If you want your locs to swell, I would not suggest microlocs, especially not this size. You can do "small" size locs and palm roll but I would definitely be careful.

@@soccerchicka164 I also do 2pt rotation & tried so hard to retie correctly but always get holes! I know how to fix them but it’s irritating. 😡How do you avoid them, I always finish downwards but STILL have issues 🤦🏾♀️

Dang, I don't even want to braid and band on wash day, I definitely don't braid every night lol. But I will try to braid them more even just to stretch them.

@dionehowell86873 жыл бұрын
It’s totally your choice but by braiding your hair everynight you are slowing the locking process. To loc our hair needs to contract & shrink up, your not fully allowing your hair to do this & for most people to fully condense & loc it can take up to 2 years. Maybe the thinning is due to retightening schedule as your locs are tiny with very few hair strands that still shed they need to be caught up in the shaft of the loc to keep loc healthy & strong. Nice video 👍🏾🇬🇧
