Жыл бұрын

In this full-length interview, Jacqueline "Loca D" Montanez talks about being a former member of Chicago's maniac Latin Disciples and growing up in West Chicago. She reveals that her stepfather was a high-ranking member of Latin Kings. At age seven, Jacqueline started getting raped at home by him. Her mother didn't know about it in the beginning, but she started to learn about it when she turned 12 years old. In response, her mother gave Jacqueline up to Child Protective Services in order to protect her from her stepdad. Jacqueline subsequently ran away from the group home she was sent to and joined the maniac Latin Disciples. As the discussion moves along, she explains how she was initiated into the criminal organization before detailing their cross-town rivalry with the Latin Kings.
Later in the interview, she talks about getting arrested for killing two of her gang's rivals (in an act of retaliation because her friend was murdered) before explaining what her first day in prison was like as a teenager. She reveals that she busted a prison guard's head open and that she was stabbed by a Latin Queens while in prison. From there, she talks about the corrupt police officer who worked her case and how his sketchy history led to her case being re-opened. Lastly, she discusses the pain and grief that she has to go live with now by explaining that she is working on forgiving herself for killing people, trying to forgive her mother for giving her up for adoption, and her marriage to her wife. She also shares her thoughts on the untimely death of Takeoff from Migos.

I did time with her...she was supposed to serve life, but due to her age and her work in the joint...her sentence was reduced. I believe that happened for a reason. Her purpose is more significant than anything she could do in Logan. Her truth is just that...hers! Regardless of the parts that seem unbelievable, she was raised in prison, and she survived it to save souls! Love and light ✨️ 💛 to you, Jackie!!! I pray you accomplish your purpose!

when she said ‘’i hit her with a hammer’’ and stayed cold as ice you know this woman has seen so much in her life. She didn’t choose the neighborhood or the city she was born in. She didn’t choose her stepfather and she didn’t really have a choice to be in gangs. She is so strong and the fact that she can talk about her life like that is amazing. I wish her a peaceful life, away from violence, so her nervous system and her soul be in peace. God bless❤️‍🩹🙏🏽

Everyone has a choice as far as joining a gang or not. I have a couple of friends and family members who grew up in Humboldt Park who never joined gangs. Even one of them and his brother didn’t have their dad in their lives and their mom was a druggie and alchy so they would have been likely to join a gang and they had family members who were kings and they still chose to not join so I’m just saying everyone has a choice at the end of the day and that’s the point im trying to make

I remember Jackie from Cook County Div 4 in 97-98 When I was a Sgt. Seeing these inmate pictures of her reminds me of how young she was. I saw her again when she came back to County in Div 3 when I was a Lt working OT. When I heard she got out, I had hoped she would find her footing and stay out of Jail. Jackie I wish you luck, keep making your Momma proud. God Bless

Much love and respect to you! We are similar age, I’m from the Southwest Side and was a Latin King from Crown town around the same time you were a D, I knew people from Humboldt Park and had situations in the Twilight Zone along with other areas in the South side. I grew up since then and see things differently now too and how my enemies were really my people who just grew up on a different side of the city or had different experiences that led them to different organizations but ultimately were the same as me and my brothers. Your ability to forgive people who have hurt you is an inspiration and God has forgiven you too, I didn’t have the same pain or struggles you had, I chose the streets in spite of having a safe and loving family and I was fortunate to have not faced any serious consequences for my actions or decisions. God bless you, you have already defeated your demons by forgiving and by showing empathy and putting the families of your victims before your own justice. I hope you can forgive yourself because you seem to be able to forgive everyone except yourself. You’re a good person and you need to understand that, Loca D is dead. You killed her and only Jacqueline is alive and she deserves to be happy and blessed so let her be happy and blessed. Much love to you!

Great interview! Raw. Learning to navigate life outside is challenging enough in "ideal" circumstances... What I appreciate most is that Jacqueline openly holds herself accountable to the mistakes she has made. She is also straight up about how close a small situation could result in re incarceration of another 30+. My heart breaks to learn of her childhood sexual abuse. Rape began at 7. The abuse began much earlier... "it was a hush, hush thing." My hope is that Jacqueline finds the strength to find and heal that hurt child inside. Embrace that child. Forgive yourself.

Her story is so powerful it needs to be a movie or something, and maybe played at schools. Her organization needs to be put out there in a major way for the youth. I’m sure this interview has already spoke deeply into the youth who were ready to receive the message, who may not have had no one to guide them. I hope she continues to learn to forgive herself everyday because I know it’s heavy stuff to carry but I hope that all the positive she devoted herself to do now eases that load. AND to anyone who has ever lost a loved one to a violent crime. May you have the courage to carry on, may you find peace, May you find beauty in life again.
