You want Gunpla tips? 1. use model kit paint, and Paint thinner for panel lining. Sure it's a little messy, but the lines won't fade away compared to Gunpla markers. 2. Paint any parts that aren't properly painted, while they're still in the frames. it's a lot easier to paint them that way, over already being attached. 3. use a mat finish to protect it from Dust(This is optional BTW) 4. make sure your model is away from sunlight(I made that mistake with my MG Strike Freedom full Burst Mode Model, and now the rods for the Funnels have become brittle). 5. if your model has any stiff joints, use a toothpick and some dish soap to lubricate the joints(I did that with my Omnimon model kit's knee joint and it worked great).

I would recommend trying some of the newer HG or MG Gunpla model kits. One of the best new HG model kits out there is the HG Moon Gundam. Also quick tip, Frame arms girl are actually based of the Frame arms line by Kotobukiya, which is entirely separate from Gundam. Gunpla is made by Bandai, while megami device, FA, and FA girl is made by Kotobukiya. Sorry if that kinda came off as pretentious or “UM ACTUALLY?!”, not trying to be! Glad to see you getting into the hobby man, hope to see you build more! I’ve been building for over 2 years now and I have between 120-150 Gunpla.
@Dreweful5 жыл бұрын
I used to love seeing all the gunpla boxes in the supermarket when I was little. I was given a gunpla once as a present, and I loved it so much. It was not just a toy; it is a set of challenges on whether I am capable of understanding the structure despite the language barrier, whether my hands and fingers are nimble enough to manipulate the parts, whether I am focused enough to sit for hours constructing. The end result is a beauty -- cool robots which structures I understood in depth. I was proud of the result of my work, and I remember it vividly that I thought it was the best robot ever -- and I built it. People may think differently on their value of gunpla but for each their own. It served as a starting point for me in the love of learning and creating and art in my childhood, and although I haven't build gunpla over a decade, the excitement is still there. Thanks gundam

Apply the stickers to the pieces before you connect them to other parts. Make sure you use tweezers and a toothpick to apply the stickers, because the adhesives aren't too strong. Toothpicks are better for the smaller stickers (stick the sticker to the tip of the toothpick, just enough stickiness for things to work out). For the larger stickers, using either is fine. The last thing I'd say is to just take your time cutting each piece. It'll reduce the amount off leftover chunks. If there is still some leftover, you can shave them off with the nail file on regular nail clippers. Be careful not to shave into the piece itself and you'll do fine.
@fariday965 жыл бұрын
yep that right but for frame arms girl the sticker is a little bit hard cause u need to submerged it in water for like 10second then apply it to the kit and its called water slide decal, but mate its a really good tips u just said .

I was the one who really recommended Gunpla to him through his Twitch channel Remember to file away the nub marks cos they can be REALLY ugly You can also twist out the polycaps from their runner, doesn’t require cutting It is a must to use a tweezer for stickers and possibly parts separation The reason why some parts need force is because those parts are usually the ones that need to be tight in order to support the weight for the model kit My first kit was a clear color HG Gundam Exia, but just like you were not proud with the first few videos of your KZbinr career, looking back, I’m not exactly proud of that build since the things is now in pieces...

I'm proud of you, Joey. I hope you had fun in the end. Personally, I love building Gunpla. If you do decide to get into it a little more I would recommend familiarizing yourself with how to clean the small bits of plastic left on the parts from the runners, the nubs. My lazy modeling tip, invest in a big pack of multicolored sharpies. Use a close color matching sharpie to color over the discolorations left from the nubs, wait one or two seconds, and then scrub off the sharpie with a cloth. This is an easy way to make your kits more presentable, good enough for me anyway.

Cool, I have 15 Frame Arms Girls, and yeah they take a minuet to do. It helps to have an Exacto knife to remove the 'flash', and to build the arms and legs at the same time, and not as separate steps, and also once you build one, they are pretty much all the same, so it's easer.

Looking good! Always good to have more people in the hobby! The main tip I would recommend is cutting a bit off the gate of the runner (frame) so that the nubs are still attached to the part so you can cut if more cleanly off with a hobby knife or file it off so that way nub marks/stress marks aren't too noticeable, sanding the marks too help to make the marks less disable too. It's not the easiest hobby to get into (I would say I'm still a beginner, have built about 13 Gunpla) but you notice that you get much better over time, so it's quite rewarding. Anyways, enjoyed the video, keep up the good work!

Well done on keeping your patience! I've not played with gunpla but it reminds me of warhammer figures. Main difference is the need for glue and paint. My friend just started a very detailed looking red and gold gundam and he's already looking ahead and giving parts a coat of paint to make it extra nice looking. Like the gold wasn't shiny enough so he's painted over all the gold parts. Some of the red pieces were scruffy looking so he's gone over those aswell. He's also painting details on, rather than using the decals if they're not suitable for his vision. I think he also has a file handy for those annoying wee nubs that sometimes get left after cutting a piece out of the grid. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

I love Gunpla. My first one was a very cheap China-rip-off-quality model of the Wing Gundam back when I was a preteen. I try to buy any of the Gunpla of Gundams I like, but atm, I don't got any more room for them so most are sitting in my closet until I either move out, or buy a bigger display case. I'm not some super pro, but I'd like to think I'm a casual pro. If that's a thing, lmao. But great job on your first Gunpla! Some tips I'd recommend: -Buy a self-repairing cutting mat. They'll save your table tops from any scratches. -When you cut a piece off the runner (the grid thing), cut it off on the pegs, not right against the piece. -Use an x-acto knife/chisel to cut the peg off the piece for a cleaner look (no tiny nubs/bumps showing, just make sure you use the mat, as you don't want to cut your finger by accident). -Some people have said you can use some very fine sandpaper to clean the piece off as well, but I'm too lazy for that.

The only thing I have learned from building gundams and other figures is that it is not hard to build. The reason people say it is hard and difficult are the people who choose to hand paint the model instead of using the stickers. The photo of the model itself on the manual is always a painted one, which looks a lot better than just stickers.

Pro Tip: use an x-acto knife for cutting the parts, it's easier that way, or so my friends say at least... also they did mention that it gives "precision" on the cutting, I've seen them do it on a Gundam/Gunpla build, and it was really clean, they also told me that cutters are not really an alternative for x-acto knives, since the knives are sharper.
@imbored86492 жыл бұрын
Thank you for writing this! I rewatched the video and honestly, Joey should never have used a box cutter for this model kit. Box cutters are just horrible for cutting and cleaning nubs. They're too chunky and aren't completely sharp, hence why they are only used for cutting boxes. He should have invested in x-acto knives for better results. Plus, they're also cheap and affordable at places like Hobby Lobby and local model kit shops. And Imma be honest, as successful as Joey thought he was after completing the build, the nubmarks that he left on the build are just painfully unbearable to see. I know he was casually building this one, but it wouldn't hurt to put in the extra effort to make the figure look better by cleaning away the nubs.

I was also curious about what the big deal is with Gunpla, so I bought a cheap set when I was in Japan last fall. It was a Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans Barbatos Lupus. I put it together on my day off and it was such a zen experience. Now I want to build more. Specifically the Unicorn Gundam.

Quick tip for you: Frame Arms Girls are fully compatible with any of Kotobukiya's Modeling Support Goods accessories along with the weapons from Little Armory. And I know nobody asked, but Frame Arms Girl has an anime and it is on Crunchyroll.

Me as a Gundam Builder: B-but that's not a Gunpla Joey, it's a F.A.G. (Frame Arms Girl) which is a model kit of a mecha girl made by Kotobukiya (obvious 😆) and when i was a few minutes in and saw Joey cut a part of the F.A.G. and the part springs out of the runner ( i feel you man, i lost so many goddamn parts when that happened) don't forgot the file/sandpaper since you need to sand down the nubmarks/cut marks. Advice: when you bought a model kit and you feel like you waste money for it. *Man Up* because you bought it and you should build it *OR* ask your friend which is already a better builder than you (sometimes reccomended depending if your friend wants to build it for you or not) And answers to Joey's question: Yes i'm into gunpla but i'm a casual straightbuilder which only focuses on HG's but i tend to collect MG, PG, RG that is Premium Bandai/P-Bandai for short which is the limited edition and also the Gundam Base Limited which is probably a monthly Limited. (Gundam Base will stop releasing a certain Gundam Base Limited kit at the end of a month and releases a new Gundam Base Limited) example of this is the HGUC RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Perfect Ability which is Gundam Base Limited and it is now *probably* closed and i need to go hunt for it. P-Bandai, Gundam Base Limited and other Limited Gunpla costs a fortune but it is worth the hunt and build unless if you don't want to lose the part which is just by having it makes you happy if you want to go that way.
@sirBrouwer5 жыл бұрын
here are a few use full tips. 1. use a tray (or make one) that is big enough to work in but does have walls on all sizes. then if you do drop something you don't have to hunt for it. 2.if you have nips left on the plastic parts a (nail) file. that really does help. 3. don't feel obligated to finish one build in one sitting. I know enough sets that are so big that it is even impossible to do them in one day. a lot will do one or two pages (chapters) and come back a other day if they feel there focus going down.

This was pretty chill to watch and it's definitely good for streaming, it gives you a lot of time for interaction. Also, if you really wanna get rid of the bad cuttings, you can always get like a little nail file or something to smoothen it out a little bit but that's entirely up to you if you wanna make it that work intensive

If you do a bad cut pulling a part from the grid then a easy way to get rid of the stub is by taking a fine grit nail filer and smoothing it out. Doing this you may need to apply some paint if the plastic isnt the same color throughout.

Great job on your Frame Arm Girl(F.A.G)!! Just a tip, sanding of the excess plastic aka. nubs will make the figure look better but it require a bit of practice (it took me a while to get used to clearing nubs properly too). Still you did really well for first time doing F.A.G since they are more delicate than gunpla!! Respect!!
