My market got cancelled last minute so I had to figure out a way to move my stems. I ended up moving 55 bouquets through Facebook Marketplace in 2 days. In the video, I talk about my process, specifics of my posting, and the logistics of managing the pick ups.

Great video! I have been thinking about selling bouquets but for the moment I have small kids and it's summer time. I want to sell small batches for now because I still want and need the flexibility for my family. So this video is a good guideline and I can tweak it for my area.

Yes! This heat is accelerating my sunflowers and messing up the timing. I may need to do the same with sunflowers soon though at this point I’m thinking about donating them as a fundraiser at work. Would save me the headache! 😅

😳 Yes, your delivery cost was too small. I'm working at a small town flower shop and they charge $13 to WALK down the street. I think anything from $7-$12 within 8 miles is respectable. Keep in mind that people pay so much more to door dash a cheeseburger!

I’m wondering if Facebook marketplace with clear boundaries that work for you wouldn’t be better than rolling the dice at the market ( I know you have other goods to sell at the market besides flowers though) For instance, offer a short pick up window, like early evening, for bouquets already paid for, and set up a table at the end of your driveway. It seems to me that the certainty of that is worth the effort. People willing to come and pick up are likely to be regular customers.What do you think?

Absolutely! A pick up window will definitely be implemented next time! Our driveway is long and narrow. Unfortunately it goes onto a main road, so we may be limited still to having people drive up a bit more. Time to widen it!

I would say, don’t get too sucked into only using Facebook as a customer base. The lesson I learned is that there is a threshold for these type of customers. I have gotten some good repeat customers willing to pay higher but many are looking for a “deal”. They’re on marketplace for a reason!

Good luck! I would just be conscious about buying flowers for fbook marketplace. People are looking for a deal so your margins will be slim. If you were buying for an event and then had leftover to sell on marketplace, it would feel more like an acceptable risk 🙂
