After seeing your guys’ reaction to last week's video where I shared how we sell flowers from our farm stand, it’s clear to me that you all enjoy content where we share our experience selling cut flowers.
In fact, last month when I shared about our experience selling flowers at a local market- that video too, it gained traction rather quickly.
And so, if hearing about our experience selling flowers- if it helps you to sell more flowers yourself, I’m more than happy to share all that we’ve learned these past few years!
That’s why today, I thought I’d share more about our CSA Flower Subscription that we offer to our customers.

Would really love to hear more about selling to florists & doing a you-pick flower farm, especially more about the legal requirements (insurance, etc.) that you would need for a you-pick/wholesale seller
@twosistersflowerfarm
@twosistersflowerfarm Жыл бұрын
Yes, for sure will be creating content around this! I will say the legal requirements vary so much from area to area that it's hard to give advice other than to talk to professionals near you. With U-Pick you're going to want to look into insurance so you're not liable with people on your property. There's really not too many 'legal' requirements with wholesale- for me, the biggest change was filling out the right tax forms since I wasn't collecting sales tax from those customers.

I love this video! I want to do subscriptions in the future. I’ve been worried about the pressure of prepaid bouquets b/c what if I misjudge the amount of flowers I will have and I’m unable to fulfill the subscriptions?!? I’ve been selling on consignment to our local farmer’s market with good response. I may dip my toe in CSA’s next summer. Thank you for your videos. They give me more courage.

You got this, Carol! You have a very valid concern but there's always other alternatives if your flower crop doesn't turn out like you need it to in order to fill your CSA orders. There's lots of flower farmers in my area + there's always someone willing to help out if need be. Earlier this year, when a fellow flower farmer needed daffodils for her spring CSA- I was able to sell them to her so she could fill her orders. And last fall when my dahlias didn't make it quite long enough, a friend of mine had plenty that he was willing to share. Plus, I keep an account with my local flower wholesaler- as a plan b if I need it. Wishing you the best of luck with whatever you decide to do!

And yes, I will for sure be sharing more information about our other sales channels in the near future :) I'll likely break down the stats about our success with each sales channel in a more detailed video- but a quick response about our top sales channel- this year, it's been our CSA :)

I love your videos, could you do one on what you do after you harvest before you create the bouquets? How do you get the bugs out?
@twosistersflowerfarm
@twosistersflowerfarm Жыл бұрын
Great suggestion! And I can certainly add that to our content calendar:) The best thing we do is leave our flowers in a cool, dark place for a bit of time and any bugs tend to fly away. If you have more severe bugs, a gentle shake of your flowers at the time of harvest can help or even a gentle rinse with some water- just be careful, you don't want to get the blooms too wet! Hope this helps!

@twosistersflowerfarm
@twosistersflowerfarm 8 ай бұрын
Many of my friends were huge supporters of my business-especially when I was just getting started so yes they did pay (though my subscription was priced significantly lower than it is now) and my family- while they would willingly have paid, I often gave them bouquets in exchange for the work they helped me with throughout the season 🧡
