In this episode of The Questionable Garage, Jared introduces a quirky new project that’s rolling into the shop-a 2012 Snyder ST600-C. This peculiar little vehicle has a story that’s as strange as its appearance. Originally purchased at an auction by a fellow automotive museum, the Snyder was supposed to be a complete, running machine. But when the car finally arrived, it was a far cry from what was expected. What they got instead was an automotive jigsaw puzzle-an incomplete vehicle with boxes of mismatched, mysterious parts.
Now, the Snyder has found a home at the Miles Through Time Museum, and Jared is taking on the challenge of figuring out what makes this oddball vehicle tick-or, more accurately, what’s preventing it from ticking at all. As he unpacks the boxes and dives into the car’s unique design, Jared explores the fascinating (and slightly ridiculous) features of the Snyder ST600-C. But the big question remains: is there enough here to put the Snyder back together and bring it to life? Or is this project destined to stay a collection of parts? Hey Jared, if you need parts look up Daewoo Matiz. This thing is based on a LHD model that was mass produced and highly sold in Europe. European scrapyards are full of them and there's parts enough.

Not quite the Matiz we used to know. At least i haven't seen this "uplifted" version (haven't seen a Matiz in years at that). This does look like the 0.8 uplift from 2000 (did some goorgling). Thing is, it's clearly been narrowed and some other things have been modified. They either straight up lifted the dies OR Daewoo sold the dies under license. You never know. I mean, Samsung right up stole Nokia's battery design and many other r&d stuff, that area of the world and "intellectual property" don't exactly mix, at least not like here.

Or parts from Chery QQ / S11, a cheap chinese car sold in Asia and South America (I own one in Brazil 😂 It's crappy Matiz copy but I love it because is very reliable, very cheap to run, small but surprisingly comfortable for a 6'4 200lb, fully loaded, half of the price of similar GM/Ford/Fiat/VW locally produced shitbox and criminals doesn't want steal it, perfect for a big, violent and busy city like São Paulo)

Only the overall rear body , the doors, the handles, lights, dashboard and some random stuff is Matiz, this thing look smaller from the front glass on and obviuously the frame and drivetrain has nothing to spare with the corean econobox

The Mecum Auctions Manager should be contacted. Somebody within the organisation took it for a crazy, irresponsible joy ride, smashing into things, denting and scratching the "car", smashing the side mirror off, rolling it probably to break the roof rack in the process. They then proceed to strip the engine and exhaust out. The auction pictures show the car before damage and stripped engine etc. I would suggest this is criminal behaviour and the Mecum Auctions Manager should be interested.

It's not even the same car, look at the rust marks in original photos, original photo also included pictures of the rear, the window had stickers on it, and the Snyder logo has completely different peeling.

I think the transporter excuse is stale. We all know they are bad, but are they wire fraud and federal vin tapering bad? The auction assumes responsibility for accuracy. Thats pretty standard. they may have been mislead, but scamming a museum means they could have stolen YOUR tax dollars. They will get no sympathy from a prosecutor. I would make it right if I was them, even if it wasnt my wrong.

The auction result for this comes up in a quick google search. SInce you didn't call them out I won't either but those who are curious can look it up easily by searching the car model. I really can't believe this is what was delivered. This will be a fun series to watch.

Don’t know if this helps but John Deere uses a Chery engine in their 825i Gators , it’s a 3 cylinder but maybe some of stuff you need is interchangeable

Jared, if you don't mind doing a little research in paper catalogs and want domestically sourced parts, look no further than a mom and pop auto parts shop or O'Reilly auto parts (not sponsored!!). For the motor mounts, I highly suggest looking for motor mounts for a 1975 Volvo 242. That particular mount is essentially a rubber biscuit with a threaded stud on top and one on the bottom. I used this exact part to mount an OMC Cobra II 2.3L engine into my 1984 Mazda B2000 along with fabricating some brackets on each side. Side note: Looking through O'Reilly's paper catalogs is also how I figured out that an automatic transmission mount from a 1993 Ford Aerostar would bolt right onto my 1988 Ford Mustang Borg-Warner T-5 transmission and I could reuse the Mazda B2000's original transmission cross member with only a slight modification to said cross member.

What Chery engine is that? If it's the one from a QQ3 (0.8 L SQR372) there are plenty of parts available here in Chile, as it was massively sold as the Chery IQ. Motor mounts are like $12 USD here...

chery engines are used in loads of different things like gokarts, atv's, generators, quads, mowers, might be easier to source the parts from people selling them if the car side is a bust

Meaning the car in the picture could be in a different state than it actually is. Also says above it very small that it's for parts only

This car has legal problems outside of China due to copyright, body panels are a Direct copy to the Daewoo/ gm matiz The Daewoo matiz was originally intended to be the Fiat, 500 until the tooling and design was sold to Daewoo

The auction house would only be responsible if they knowingly posted an advert/auction that was fraudulent or misleading. Unless you can prove they knew about it, this would not fair well in court. However, suing the seller should be a fairly straight-forward contract dispute.

i was surprised when i saw that single front wheel on what looks to be a Daewoo Matiz which used to be a pretty common car here in Poland since we had a factory of those, and then the whole different name made it even more weird tbh. I suspect a bunch of Matiz parts might fit that thing, if it wouldn't be just better to haul in a whole donor car to the States

That Snyder looks at lot like this car I had seen a while back (I think around 2012) called a Zap Xebra. They were electric, and also considered a motorcycle. Most of them ended up getting recalled and destroyed because they couldn't fix a braking issue.

This also got sold with lead acid or lithium ion batteries as the Zap Xebra in the 2010s. They drive terribly and have very little in the way of suspension. They are constructed with decent steel, so they will dent instead of crumpling, but that's the nicest thing you can say about these wheelbarrows disguised as cars disguised as motorcycles.

its only a motorcylce in some states now, the laws were changed state by state over the past three years to support two different manufacturers that lobbied for changes. The hard roof is the deal maker.

It is a pity In South Africa Chery QQ with with that engine is still in use and parts new and used is readily available, I know because my late wife's Chery QQ is still daily in use by my oldest daughter as a grocery getter and as a mom Taxi, the ZA Rand vs Dollar exchange is very good but exporting parts can take months and courier services is expensive

I purchased in 2016 similar car model 2009 or something but with 250cc motorcycle engine, manufactured from a weird named in china, searched on internet and found out that same company also make 600cc version, personally went China spend 250 days in 2018 and found not a single piece on roads

Do you need to take a vacation? Chery has been in Costa Rica for a long time, and should have parts, if not new, there are dismantling shops everywhere (but not like a Pick n Pull). You could also make a video highlighting all the Chinese EV's in the country, and review a few? How's your Spanish?

Hayabusa swap it. Reliant Robins and BMW Isettas had three wheels and are considered as motorcycles for insurance purposes. Motorcycle insurance is way less expensive.

The three wheel car being considered technically a motorcyle is not a new an idea, 3 wheel versions of all the 1950s bubble cars were classified as motorcycles in the UK, and later on the Reliant 3 wheelers were also considered motorcycles for tax purposes and license requirements.

The thing is that the parts that are shared with the Daewoo Matiz are only some of the exterior panels but as far it goes to the engine the Matiz came only with a 1.0 and a 0.8 manual and automatic transmission respectively that Cherry engine is only for Chinese cars but they are known for not good support here in Colombia Cherry sold many models and the smallest one was a 803 cc engine on a small family car similar to the Matiz
