The model Y is going to be a lot cheaper to operate in the long run because of how much idling a typical police car sees, and most departments would likely see significant reduction in maintenance cost. All for a few thousand bucks more. The cybertruck doesn't seem viable at its current price tho, maybe in a few years after a few more price cuts.

Teslas should not be used as patrol vehicles. They have a large screen that is the only means of controlling all of the functions present in other vehicles such as the explorer. This is distracting and demands attention that should be spent driving and using the radio/MDT.

The car would stop functioning for a split second then require a reboot. Should work perfectly fine after the reboot. Modern ICE cars would incur way more damage from a big EMP pulse. It's much more difficult to Shield small pieces of electronics near a hot engine. Way easier to shield the critical parts on a BEV. Soo do you drive a 1980s Mercedes Diesel 5cyl?
