Regarding Dan’s desire for backup power for his house, you don’t need to plug into the 240 outlet! There is a “whole gadget” (excuse my highly technical terminology) that enables you to have household backup power through the Cybertruck charging cable I believe! It’s like getting a Powerwall installed but your Cybertruck IS the Powerwall. They will install a gateway and other equipment, but a power outage in your house becomes unnoticeable when the power that was charging the CT battery instantly reverses and powers the whole house from the CT battery. Supposedly up to 3 days of power, but of course that depends on your household power usage and the percent of charge of your CT battery. What I like about that is, if your CT battery starts going low from powering your house, you can drive to a Supercharger to fill it back up, then drive home and power your house for another 3 days!
@flyshacker2 ай бұрын
This is an addendum to my post above. The “gadget” is called “PowerShare” which includes a gateway and a two way wall charger, all available from Tesla. The Cybertruck battery is equivalent to 9.4 Powerwalls!!

@mayorsnorkum40053 ай бұрын
Yes, for me the lack of range of the current Cybertruck and the fact that it is not eligible for the federal $7,500 are reasons to hold off. The superior range of both the Chevy and the GMC are both very enticing. The biggest problem with buying a GM truck is having to go back to dealing with a dealership!! Musk should probably not have promised a 500 mile range, then delivered little more than HALF of that amount. Too bad. It could have been a really epic truck.

Since I already paid $6,000 for the model 3 that I first bought, and another $9,000 for the model Y, I had $15,000 into it! Certainly didn't want to pay another $8K. I was pretty much considering that I would cancel the order. Now I see I don't have to. Still don't have a VIN number. And I haven't taken a drive yet. But I have one scheduled for next week! I got notice in January this year...but I'm living in Thailand...so I paid the 1,000 reservation (non-refundable,) and told them I would be back to the US in a year or so...and got assurances from multiple Tesla employees that that would be fine. I then got my order cancelled in October (1100 bucks gone.) Tracking through the miscomm, I found that the Tesla app HAD given me notice of the imminent cancellation, but failed to deliver that notice because I have a foreign phone number and no messages came through (either the Tesla app OR normal messaging...) Long story short...the 1100 bucks is GONE, Tesla is absolutely zero response to multiple emails and calls (I STILL want my CT...but...) So, heading back stateside in early March...and will take the issue up with a local Tesla outlet when I get back... Tesla is REALLY dropping the ball on customer service and communication, IMHO.
