Questions for Memphis Police, CJ Davis after docs show different story on creation of SCORPION unit

ABC24 obtained internal documents that contradict what Interim Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis previously claimed about the SCORPION unit's creation.
The now-defunct SCORPION unit was Memphis Police's street crime fighting unit, disbanded after the death of Tyre Nichols in 2023.

What did the previous Mayor know about this? I'm sure he and Chief Davis had conversations about the unit. MPD can hold up "We Support Chief Davis" signs all they want. The fact remains that the over 600,000 citizens of Memphis have the right to know if a specialized police unit is going around terrorizing Memphis. In the end it will the taxpayers who will have to cough up the money to cover the police abuse lawsuits. Not the police retirement fund, which where lawsuit settlements should come from! Police yourself before you think about policing the citizens of Memphis.
